I'm wondering if it's possible to remove the tiger-paw focus tab and replace it with a half-moon focus tab. I'm talking about a v4 50mm summicron here.
I dont see why not but why bother? You'll need to find a tab first and then take the focus ring off. Maybe the holes for screws are different meaning a drill session. I'd just sell the paw lens and buy a scallop one instead. Had both a few times and identical.
fad_gadget, did you make the switch yourself or have a technician to it? It would be good if it were possible.
I wonder why some folks prefer the tiger claw and not the half moon? Perhaps just that little finesse that's specific to each individual person...? Now sometimes I wish the Zeiss lenses at least had a tiger claw instead of that little bulge.
I had a tech do it, the focusing ring has to be removed to get to the tab screws underneath.
I usually end up with more parts than I started out with... 😉
I have the sonnar, I actually don't mind the bump!
