Summicron 50mm M

I have a number of 50mm Summicrons including the DR, the Rigid, ver.3, and ver.5 (pre-APO). I love all of them for different reasons, but I'm a huge fan of the DR and the ver.5. Bokeh on the ver.5 can be busy and slightly off putting, but sharpness is incredible. The DR/Rigid are both amazing, and have that classic look but incredible sharpness. I hope to never ever lose any of my 50s or my 35s for that matter, but the Summicron name is legendary for the reasons almost everyone on RFF has one or shops for one for their first Leica lens, and they have captured some of the most iconic images on film and digital.

Also, I realize I'm falling into the trap of finishing my opinion by posting my own images...but...hey...its' RFF.

The DR & Rigid are identical optics. Aside from the goggles and such....I like my 50 Rigid just fine without the silly "extra baggage".

You are one lucky dude...

a beautiful fiancée and a couple of Summicrons...yeah, I feel extremely lucky!

A beautiful fiancee who likes having her photo taken, that's the distinction. I can't think of something more personally frustrating for a photographer than a partner who doesn't like having their photo taken. Don't ask me how I know. You're lucky, indeed! 🙂

I always print the full frame on 18x24cm, about 7 to 9,5 inch, a standard size on the continent. It leaves a small white border - that I like - and a thin black line around the negative.

Bigger is nice, but unpractical. You'll understand that when you have more than 500 of 'm. And the price. One sheet of 18x24cm Adox MCC110 costs EUR 1.

You are lucky; I can find three sizes here. Fist is always 6x4, then A4 and now and then A3+ I used A3+ for 18 x 12 with a half inch margin but ran out of wall.

What's favourite here is clusters of 6 x 4 ...

Usually I order my paper via Internet at Fotoimpex in Berlin. They are the makers of Adox MCC110. They have quite a lot of sizes. If they are not sold out. That happens often. The production of paper is very low at the moment.

I recently acquired type 5 for around usd1500... the red plastic dot was missing and the paint is faded somewhat but the optics are great. its a superb lens but what I have heard is all cron 50mm are wonderful and any aspect lacking in the image can be corrected in basic photo editing software easily.

Good luck
