Too much stuff
I've just picked up a very very sweet Leica CL with Summicron-C 40mm f/2.0, and the lens is confusing me slightly....
It has 14 distinct positions for the aperture ring... what's going on? Is this standard? It would mean that either a) I have a half stop (or a 'bug' stop) smaller than f/16 or b) I have a half stop wider than f/2. The final 'click' corresponds to the '16' marker, so I'm thinking it must be the former... do I have a Summicron-C 40mm f/1.x on my hands?
I've taken a few shots wide open and it looks fine, tack sharp... curious.

Well-known
Hi there,
mine also goes about half a stop less than F2 and more than F16
I asked Don from DAG about it and he said it's completely normal in this lens, so don't worry.
I don't know what these two "estra half stops" mean optically - in the one beyond the F16 the diaphragm closes a bit more, but I never tried it. .
It's a great lend - keep it

Thanks for the info. Keeping it was beyond doubt, I love the thing already...
