Summilux 35mm pre-asph photos

Thanks Erik, I asked because I remebered exactly the portrait you just posted and thought your copy of V1 must be a perfect one.
Nice to have the chance to try out another sample.

I will try to focus more on composition this year and I am open to criticism so please feel free to comment on the weak photos as well.

Aah, the obligatory 'lift shot', every 35mm pre-asp owner has to go through this ritual!

Giulio, the lens looks to be working very well, I like your candid, casual people in intimate settings sort of stuff.

Thanks CCP. I normally carry the m2 + 'lux with me when I am out with friends for such candid.
I do like repetition and multiple hence I do have several shots from my windows and several in the lift, can't help myself ;-)
btw, we have 3 small and almost identical lift in our building so it's not always the same one and in one of the 3 the light is much stronger.

Erik,

I always enjoy the range of tones you get from your photography. Concerning the 35 summilux pre-asph, for those subway shots, what aperture are you usually using? I have my eye on a titanium pre-asph from 1992, pricey, lovely but wide open it's a bit extreme in "glow." I enjoy it closed down an little but I'm wrestling with the asking price.
Thanks

Erik,
Thanks for the article. Bookmarking it for reference. You and Giulio make good use of the strengths of both versions of the pre-asph. I think I may have to keep my eyes out for a version 1. I won't even call it glow but wide open and at f2 it tends to be just too blurry for me on that titanium v.2.
I imagine E41 filters are rare as well. If I want sharp and modern, I have an FLE. Looking for a different rendering and the v.1 seems to match what I'm looking for.
Thanks again,
Warren

Agree with Dirk, a very intense portrait Erik and I do really like the enviroment (your leaving room I suppose) with all those rounded shapes on the right hand side of the photo and the left hand side been more angular if that make sense.
It kind of split the image in two keeping the subject straight in the middle of the stage.

We should embrace lens characteristics like their native distortion, rather then contemplate about them as flaws.
Beautifully composed as always.

I have two pre-ash 35mm f1.4 Summilux, both of which came with the secondhand Leicas I got off Camera Club members years ago - from the serial numbers one is a 1966 Canadian Leitz and the other a 1988 German Leitz -- both are 'soft' at full aperture but better by f2.8 -- I will try to find samples to show you --

Nice roll Erik, I haven´t had the time to shoot much lately hence no recent post.
It seems you really like your M5, I never had one in my hand and I choose an M6 as my in-meter Leica because of the same ergonomics of my M2s.
Keep on posting!

Giulio
