Hi Jim, glad to have your expertise on board here. I have a question that maybe you or one of the other experts could answer for me. I have a version two 50mm Summilux and my question is that on the back side of it on either side of the "Lens Made in Germany" are two screws made of brass. Should these screws be brass? Dan Tamarkin looked at this lens once and told me this was not right. This does seem a little out of place to me and also the fact That they are not quite flush with the lens barrel

Greetings Mish, Dan is an astute observer. I suspect this lens has been serviced ( possibly not by Leitz) and original issue screws may have been impossible to obtain. Looks a bit unusual but I suspect the lens is fully functional. What is the serial number ? Thanks, Jim Lager.

serial #2309455 which my literature says was built in 1968. I purchased the lens from Vic Wesselhoft who you said you remembered when I sent you the fake Hektor that I also bought from him. Vic was a great guy and a great camera collector who was not afraid to get his screwdrivers out so it might be something he had done. Sadly Vic passed away last year. The lens seems to work fine so I have no complaints about that. The lens cap is a silver one that has been painted black on the outside that I am keeping (and the lens) as a memorial to Vic
