Hmmm - my Summitar came with my Leica IIIf - I love how it looks on my M 8 - I guess I ' should ' have a more modern lens , but it somehow creates a more ' film ' feel than a new Leica Summarit lens I borrowed .
In a way , it's getting accustomed to it's manner - and knowing when to reach for my more sparkling Fed collapsible 50 f 3.5 LOL .

I wanted to see how my summitar performed stopped down. This one was taken (last Wed.) at f.8:

I'm going to try some Ektar 100 in a IIIc soon with my Summitar. This one suffers from separation too and has a small dent in the front lens.
I've used mine mainly on my Epson R-D1, not much swirly bokey then though.

It's taken me a long time to appreciate my Summitar, now it's a permanent fixture..

... likes film again.
Sometimes flare adds to the photo and for sure to this one. I like it a a lot.

Summitar
Hi,
I love this lens to bits. I got mine with a iiic that I sold, because my Zorki (a stunning sample) is simpler and just works a lot much better. The Summitar is the only LTM lens I have, so I use the combo only when I want to get the Summitar look. Like at a recent wedding. Note: I'm not a pro wedding photographer, I just helped out a friend.
Lovely lens for people shots:
The last 3 were taken at the pub I met up with my friends at least once a week for the last 10 years. The pub owner in the last picture passed away from cancer last Friday. I'm happy I have this photo of him. It will be used in an in memoriam website.
Peter.

I'm learning what others already know: that this is a nice lens for people shots. A little soft wide open (or at f2.8, like the shot below), but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
