My friend Erik in that photo does have the 'Germanic' features to pull it off. I should have composed the portrait a little better, but at this point I was happy I didn't get the port-a-potty in the picture ;)

Yes no port-a-pottty is good:D but, you're being too critical otherwise because the composition looks really good. If it was the focus... that's how it was sometimes with these non rangefinder cameras and I think that's what makes it look so authentic.
 
At small apertures no complaints about sharpness from me
