Rod, if Mr. Ravilious was living, he would sure be admiring this satin tonality.

Thank you Bob, if only I could replicate this kind of tonality regularly..

OK, time to show some pics: after reading this thread I found a nice uncoated Summitar in classifieds.
Picked it up, now it's seriously fighting with the Canon 50/1.5 as my primary portrait lens!

Wonderful pictures Squinza, The bokeh in that first one adds an almost radiant beauty to her. Marvelous!

Very nice! The Summitar really is a fantastic little lens for portraits.

One of the best portraits I have seen taken with the Summitar was by Mike Tinsley... almost MF quality...

Wow, interesting... but really a Summitar? I don't see the characteristic bokeh and it looks like a digital shot to me. M8, M9?

Note the football shaped out-of-focus highlights on the left -- generally a Summitar or Summar giveaway.

Yes and yes.
The shot was taken with the Summitar on the M8. Exif disappeared: ISO 640, 1/8th and wide open. Handheld - didn't have too much coffee that day.
Cheers,
Uwe
