I was really pleased with how my summitar dealt with the shadows and bright sky here.

BTW, how do you pronounce summitar? with a short, unstressed 'i' sound like /SUMM-ih-tar/ or with a stressed diphthong like /summ-EYE-tar/

I say it one of two ways: "SOO-mih-tar" ( usually ), or SUM-mih-tar.

In either case, the " i " vowel is short.

Going back to my basic German from College, I think the first pronunciation is likely correct: in German, the " u " is usually pronounced "ooh", and the " i " pronounced " ih", as in "fish" or "bitte".

SOO-mar, SOO-ma-rit, SOO-mih-tar, SOO-mih-cron.

The one that I get hung-up on is the I-word that usually follows "Zeiss"...

Again, following the basic rules for German pronunciation, I would pronounce " Ikon " as "IH-kon". However, I 've always heard folks say EYE-kon.
