Hi.
I have just got a Super Baldina fitted with a Radionar 50mm F2.8 lens. Can anybody tell me what size filters it takes, please.

If I recall correctly, the Baldina I have (50/2.8 Baldanar lens and Compur Rapid shutter) has a 35.5 mm thread (but I may be wrong). Sadly it's 250 miles away from me at the moment and I can't check it but that might be a pointer in the right direction.

Welcome to RFF.

My Super Baldina has a Radionar 50mm f/2.9 and the filter size is smaller than 27mm, likely a series 4.5 or 25.5mm. I use no filter on mine.

The Super Baldina is a fun camera (I was shooting with it earlier today and just finished a roll). When I first got mine I had unusual light leaks on my first roll and traced it back to the shutter release button after my second roll. Some black hockey tape in the vicinity of the shutter release button solved the problem.

And of course it's just dawned on me that I actually meant to say 25.5 mm and not 35.5 mm - apologies.

I remember trying to track down a filter for the Baldina in about 1977/1978 and it would have been a prohibitively expensive special order item then. Intriguingly, some of these much less common filter sizes seem to be reappearing though, often it seems, for digital video cameras.

The Baldina I was referring to is the "rigid" one at the bottom of this web page:

http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Baldina

i.e. the one with the lens/shutter on a telescopic tube. I was actually right first time with this one, a quick measurement suggests it is a 35.5mm filter thread. (That's with the Baldanar lens but all of them do look to be the same size.)

Olympus had that 35.5mm filter thread on at least one of their models, so look for Oly branded stuff if you can't find anything Balda or generic.
