I would like to ask Super Ikonta III and IV owners... Without film inside the camera, is it impossible to cock the shutter?

I am having trouble with mine, for the cocking lever is not moving fully...

Thank you!

I think you need to wind the film advance knob until it stops before cocking the shutter, even without film.

Thank you for answering :)

I guess then I should have to test the shutter with film tomorrow. I hope everything works fine as film rolls are quite expensive today..

You do not need to have film inside the camera to wind the film advance knob. First, make sure the shutter is cocked, then, wind the film advance knob. Then test to see if the shutter will fire.

The wind knob is part of the double exposure prevention mechanism. Turning it (with or without film) unlocks the mechanism and allows the shutter to be cocked and fired.
If you can't get it to fire without film then putting film in it won't help.
Also, once the frame counter reaches 12, you may need to open the back and close it, then wind till the knob stops.

woops..

woops..

I find the knob turnig properly now.

However, the tensioning lever still is not fully cocking. Perhaps this idicates that the shutter is broken..

Thank you all for the replies!

You indeed need no film to test the transport and the double exposure prevention.
Most probably you have a problem in the shutter itself.
