Suspect stripe

Hello everyone,
I was discussing with a friend about what happens in some negatives sometime, if it's something camera-related or something that happens in the development moment.
What I refer is the little brighter horizontal stripe that you can see in the upper long side of some pictures.
This picture is from an M4 from my friend but I've seen it even on other cameras from someone else. What I suspect is the spiral border effect during the development process, but he had the same on color negatives...has to be said that color developing is being often performed by spirals with handmade process today, too.

So, someone has a theory or knows something about this? Nothing that I can't live with but I'm just curious at this point...

Quite possibly water run off from sprocket holes after hanging up. I had this problem nearly 30 years ago when I was still fixated with squeegeeing my film. These days I do a last soak in wetting agent (in my case Tetenal Mirasol) and then vigorously shake the water off in my shower cubicle before hanging the film up to dry.

I suspect an internal reflection, light coming in almost parallel to some baffles inside the camera. Is there a lamp just outside the image area?
I've seen something similar, but darker than the surrounding are, from a reflection in printing, off the fixed side of an easel that has too steep an angle - bad design.

This comes from an m4, it's not the felt in the shutter track since it would expose the holes first, and it doesn't. It happened in some Lomo LCA too, and in my FM2 in some negatives. That's why it looks more like something about developing than light...
I'm confused.

If it happens in more than one camera, then it is a handling issue. Even a small amount of water running down unevenly can leave a water mark. Do you use wetting agent ? As I said before, I have seen similar on my negs after squeegeeing. I no longer use a squeegee on film....

Your friend may inspect the negatives using a loupe with strong magnification. Is the stripe visible there? I wouldn't be surprised if it was a scanning issue. Neither flatbed scanners or home made setups for digitazing negatives by using digital cameras & light tables are immune to light streaks.

It says it can be seen on the negative. The camera is on his third CLA now...
Let's see what happens, I suppose is a developing issue, water or something else indeed. Is so close to the border that I suspect that any loading system could possibly leave those traces...I would be happy with that, I like borders imperfections. But I'm still curious.
