My new to me M2 is now back from the Dr. DAG just did a CLA on a very clean M2 from the *bay. Besides the CLA he did a few other things I requested and that is what this post is about, just a little FYI...........
Do you like M2/3 cameras but wish they loaded faster? I asked Don if he could a add later style loading spool like on an M4/6/7/P. He said of course he could. Since I had just sold a mint Leica quick load kit (it was for a camera I never got, but then did) I asked him to do the M2-R wanna be conversion. He'll do it for M3s also and the frame counter will reset on an M3 when the base is removed as on later cameras. If the work is done with a CLA it is $150 for an M2 and $200 for an M3.
He also added a used rubber eye piece from an M6 and converted the flash sockets to PC type. I know I know M's are for unavailable light use but sometimes I do use a 30 year old Sunpack 322 in the shoe. Very small, bounces every direction and is perfect to up the room light by a stop or so. About all I need.
Also a shameless plug for www.photo-equip.net I wanted a rapid wind crank for the M2. The crank from Photo-equip is very very nice. Very well made, super fit and the finish is dead on. Even the box, red felt bag and installation parts are right on. It comes with an allen wrench and 2 allen screws. A small red plastic plug goes into the screw hole first and prevents maring the rewind knob finish. $99 bux well spent.
OK so I gave 2 vendors online plugs. I'm very happy with both, I've used DAG before and many know of him anyway.
I've owned an M2 before, a '58 PB ST model. I sold it years ago and got an itch for another. Now the itch is scratched.
