Australia/New Zealand Sydney Australia RFF Meet Up

if it's wet, the footpaths around QVB/Town Hall and also in Haymarket at the intersection of George St and the tram tracks are highly reflective. Should be lots of people around both places on a Thursday night. If people are interested in dinner at Haymarket, there's heaps of good, cheap asian restaurants.

Good suggestions, Vladimir and Lynn. Keep them coming, everyone.
I suppose we want nice photogenic areas and cheap eating all at the same time.

As long as we're talking about food, Lantern by Wagaya on George Street have 30% off all menu items except alcohol Sunday to Thursday.

Deerstalkr, Lantern by Wagaya sounds like a really interesting choice. It got a write-up in today's Sydney Morning Herald. I've never been but it could be good.
Harry S, it's a pity you can't make it up to Sydney that day. I guess a weekday isn't so convenient. I like the feisty posts you sometimes put up. It would have been good to meet you.

Depending on how we're feeling, there's also the asian dumplings place opposite UTS Library/behind Market City which has handmade dumplings, noodles and chinese skewers/kebabs as well.

Hoping that this meetup won't give me another bad case of GAS to fight off (looking at you Jon and your Ikon)

March 19 is almost too far away to wait for all this yummy food. We almost need a pre-meet.
Ong, Jon has conveniently made himself scarce so we can't beat him around the head for leading us astray.
The flesh is strong, but the mind is weak, to turn a phrase.

Sorry Peter, the flesh was weak as well and I caved and bought myself a M8 (for a really good price) so I have little funds for GAS.

Sounds like Chinese New Year might have been very good to you, Ong! Congratulations! I always thought the M8 would be a very good name for an Australian camera.

I lurvvvve handmade Chinese dumplings. Wish I could join!

Ong, you don't know what cameras Bob R. is carrying yet. He's bound to be carrying some drool worthy equipment ;)

Heads up Sydney fellas!

Stills Gallery in Paddington are having a photobook and zine fair tomorrow, 28th February from 11am-5pm.

Could be interesting, and some low volume books to be had. If you see a guy with a red beard and Typ240 that will (most likely) be me. :)

I wish I could go to the zine market, and Stills is just down the road from my house. Unfortunately I've volunteered to be doorman at an all-day workshop being convened by Head On photo festival. Pity.
On our upcoming meet up, keep putting the word out everyone. There seems to be a number of Aus/Sydney members who might not have seen this thread.

I'm still up for the 19th but it looks like I won't be able to make it until around 5.00 or 5.30. As long as I have a rough idea where you'll be it shouldn't be hard to spot a largish group of people pointing cameras everywhere :).

You guys are having way too much fun! It would be so amazing to catch a flight to Sydney for your meet up on March 19th.:) ... :bang:

Last year, Bobby and I were highly successful with FaceTime while he was in Malaysia. Little known is that it was free! Wifi to Wifi. I highly recommend it for those who cannot attend!

Looking forward to seeing the photos of that meet and I commend you all for getting together!

Dave Lackey, so good to see you on this thread, and back at RFF in general. I'm sure we all wish you could make it down to Sydney for this meet too. Maybe one day.
I wish you the best of luck and good times at your GA meet.

Thanks, Peter!

You have a bunch of great people involved in Sydney and it is really a treat for Jon and Bob (and others) to be a part of it! Dare I hope to make the trip one day? Absolutely!
