Take a look at the NEW RFF Gallery

Old Albums have been migrated

Old Albums have been migrated

I have just migrated the old albums. There were 3600 or so. and a handful did not make it because of blank album names.

None the less, your old albums should be visible un "My Collections" now.

Do I have it right? The new gallery apparently lacks some functions of the old one. You can no longer filter your gallery for number of views or comments, or according to date, etc. I found these functions useful but they don't seem to be available in the new gallery.

no, you have it wrong 🙂

more functionality, just different way of getting things done. Too much to explain in a response. look at the post for gallery tips

I've just opened the New Gallery today and all my old Albums have been migrated across.

Jorge i assume this was your doing ? Many thanks you've saved me a lot of work

Loving the bigger images and Zoom function

Glad you got them 🙂

Now just tell all the other photo sites to use my gallery software 🙂

Any chance that "Today's Photos" could be the default view for the homepage of the Gallery? With only 12 photos on the current front page, people's work will come and go quickly, easily missed. The 10 rows (40 photos) in Today's Photos seems perfect. Also, would it be possible for the big blue tabs next to the individual photo to be made grey, and perhaps just text? Would love to be able to view the work in its purest state, unobstructed. Thanks, MP Guy, seems like you've taken on a lot here!

Input of a new lens?

Input of a new lens?

Leica digital can provide false EXIF lens data, if the user forgot to manually code the lens s/he used or especially if his/her coding was a close Leica approximation of the Zeiss/VC or othe non-Leica equivalent.

Agreed. The downside is, we will have to accept the misspelling or differences in name for the same lens model, if entered manually.

But: How do I enter a new lens which is not in the database list? I tried several approaches but still no solution, i.e. I never get a lens model input field. 🙁

Some feedback:

1> I use the white RFF theme, as it is easiest for me to read the forum text on my iPhone with a white background. The gallery assumes we picked the black theme.
2> The white RFF theme points to the old gallery on the left sidebar.

I like the look, but it shows that 90% of my photos were taken using a NORITSU
ModelQSS-32_33(which is the film scanner at the pharmacy were I get my films processed), and none of the camera/film/lens info that I originally added. The few that were not processed there have the data that I manually entered when I uploaded them. I am guessing that if the upload contains exif info, it overwrites any and all info manually entered in the old gallery when the photos are migrated?

Could not savage everything. The original software has a horrible database design which makes getting data out of it very difficult. Nothing is consistent. I did manage to save the albums 🙂

Thank you for all your hard migration work.
Just a question regarding inline thread images pointing to the old gallery. Can you adjust the posts with a script or do I/we have to update all my single posts with a new (permanent?) link to the new gallery?

Where can I add a lens or film that is not already listed?
I can't speak for other mods, but I'll be glad to add a lens or film. I've already added some lenses that I know will be used in gallery uploads, but there are *many* not yet listed.

It needs to be done in a consistent fashion. Just PM me with the details and I'll get it done.
