Same thing happened to me in Egypt but with Leica's
Same thing happened to me in Egypt but with Leica's
Back in 1992, near the Aswan High Dam, my boat was tipped over intentionally and I went swimming with my M6, M4-2, 28mm Elmarit, 35mm Summicron, and 50mm Summicron. Cameras were sent to Sherry Krauter, taken apart, cleaned and only needed new shutter cloth. Lenses were taken apart, cleaned, lube, and good as new! They all work fine to this day!!! Too bad for the Fuji X100! Never trust the Captain!

Yeah, but you only need about 90; they always put extras in things.

I have no idea about how things work, but I would have guessed about 30.

The best camera is one that still works!
The people who design these things from scratch are geniuses IMO! Of course computers and CAD play an enormous part in this process these days.
I read that when Maitani designed the OM-1 in the early seventies he was given a maximum set of dimensions and weight by Olympus to work within and from what I've seen of the insides of an OM when taking the lens mount off to lubricate the aperture ring, there is NO room inside this camera for anything extra. The very fine wires and guides that run from the front of the camera up to the metering system from the aperture dial and shutter speed ring blew my mind.
Looking at that X100 I'm amazed at the skill of the people who assemble these things!
I'd like to see the same thing done to one of the old space shuttles now they're no longer in use!
