I think Google Maps has some of the parade routes marked, in case it's something you're interested in checking out, or looking to avoid the crowds (and road closures).

For bright sunny daylight, I like my D80 with its CCD sensor. But in other kinds of weather, and (especially) at night, I use my D750.

The film cameras came along just for the ride; I only shot a few frames. Oh, I almost forgot to mention... I brought my Sony video camera too.

My digi cam and video needs were handled by the thing I use to make calls and post to this thread.
So far shot 5 rolls 120 , 4 rolls 35mm

I've always had great red sauce at The Shed. Busy and the bar can be pretty raucous. Wonderful $$$($) food at Geronimo. Fajitas at the cart on SW corner of Plaza. Roasted corn, NW corner of Plaza, across the street. Drinks at The Dragon Room, by The Pink Adobe. Smith Gallery, smaller than it used to be, still has some great images they'd be happy to sell you. Pasqual's. Go early to beat the line or just late enough to get the lunch menu for breakfast. Chicken enchiladas with mole.

The Sanctuario in Chimayo, 30 minutes north of SF, if that's your thing. The heat and dust and The Vigil Store; things almost haven't changed since the 1940s and the drive out is lovely. Couple of rug shops to the north of the enclave, next to the highway (76?) west to Espanola or east, uphill to high country (unpaved, then paved) and eventually into Taos. Bandalier has native cave dwellings and you can climb traditional ladders where a fall would be quite serious. Like, a genuine experience, not Disneyland.

I use almost nothing but 28 and 50 there but still bring a 21 and a 90. SF and environs is at 7,000+- feet and the light is everything you've heard about. I shoot B&W and cannot speak of colors. Early and late for the sweet raking light.

A lovely scruffy town, The City Different. Can be infuriating too.

They must have attracted quite some attention at the SF parade...
Unless You are not there yet and doing tte trip 4th July weekend

Now for full disclosure the Fuji TX2 (Xpan) also talked its way on for the ride. E100 was used in that beastie.

Speaking of... I happened upon Fireside Camera on Chestnut in San Fran (Cow Hollow) where I spied this gargoyle:



A face only a blind mother could love. Fireside had a whole bunch of these, NOS! So I had to get one, I mean how often can you buy 'new' film cameras for $70? (yeah I know on ebay scabby copies are a nickel, but this is NEW fercryinoutloud!).
The box claims 'Porsche Design", but looking at it that has to be a typo. Perhaps they meant "Portia Design"? Or "PortaPotty Design"?
Anyway, fired a roll through it on the trip, it was fun to use. But very weird. Like you need a pin to push into a tiny hole to release the battery cover. WHO DOES THAT???!!!
Anyway, what do I know? Maybe that was Porsche/Portia/Porta's input..

Almost as awesomely ugly as the Konica AiBORG! Hamish Gill has a review of the ECX1 here, where he called it "the dad cam of yore". :D

As to how the man who designed the first Porsche 911 came to put his name on this camera, I have no idea (and neither does Wikipedia)...
 
Speaking of Glass Key Photo on Sutter in San Fran..they have a beautiful black Fuji Klasse W. The one with the 28mm lens. I dragged out my decision making for two days (going back twice) before I decided that I did not need it. My Rollei QZ35W covers that base, is far more responsive, has a far more sensitive light meter and much larger shutter speed range. And cost about 1/2 the $1100 going rate for the Fuji.
And that's the thing, I just do not see these cameras - Fuji Klasse or Contax T3 - worth this kind of money because they do not bring anything to the table that justifies that price tag. But that is what the market bears at the moment so congratulations to the sellers of this gear!

Either way, do visit GlassKey if you ever have the chance. Really sweet shop.
