Tales from the Greasy Side, 5cm f1.5 Sonnar "T" and More, SCARY, Lens Horror Stories!

I've built up a collection of shims from the jupiters, and other parts lenses. Mostly left overs from converting Sonnars to Leica mount using Jupiter-8 and Jupiter-3. On lenses that are close, I've put a cut in these and used as a Split Ring. I had the idea of using a left over barrel as a hole punch. Sharpen the edge, even use the screw in retaining ring as a punch.

Brian, while a bit off topic, I thought that you would get a kick out of this ebay item. It appears that someone has hacked a CZJ 1.5 Sonnar transition lens into a black-painted barrel from a re-mounted Taylor, Taylor & Hobson Cooke Amotal Anastigmat. Aside from the black paint, the lower barrel looks a lot like my copy of the TT&H lens. I wonder if it would ever focus properly. Of course, we will never know, because the ad says that the focus ring is frozen, and the lens is hazy, dusty and fungus-y. Still, must be worth $500, right?

Well- That Sonnar is a new one for me!
"Voodoo Sonnar Zombies Attack"

The Aperture ring is frozen, and seems to be at F22- of it lines up with the Index. The lens is a transition lens, and I've never seen a rear like that one.

When I first looked at that lens, I assumed that someone has used the lower barrel from an Industar 61, but closer inspection it is definately from a re-mounted TT&H lens. The Industar 61 typically has 3 screws on the bottom of the mount, while the TT&H has only one. The knurling pattern on the two are also different. An oddity for sure

Edit: Note that the distance scale on the lens is in feet rather than meters, just like my TT&H lens barrel
