Tamron Lens hood help needed

Hello, I have inherited this lens and am wanting to find a lens hood for it. Tamron emailed me back saying that I needed this.

Tamron Adaptall 2 24-48mm SP Lens hood 27FH bayonet fit.

Now I cannot find one on eBay as yet but will keep looking. I have purchased Hasselblad lens hoods that were not correct length and have cut them down to the correct size. So I am wondering does anyone know of something that I could also cut down that would work. I need to put a filter on the front of this lens for protection and apparently the filters go inside this hood.
Anyone out there with suggestions would be a great help.

Wow you have found something there that I was unable to. That rubber hood does not look like a Hoya version, so I wonder what it is. I suppose it is possible that there is a company that uses a similar mount that I could use ,it’s just a matter of finding one.
My late fathers slides using this lens are absolutely superb, it truly is a lovely piece of glass, so I really want to use it.

It does look a bit odd, and in an article called "Exploratorium with Tamron SP 24-48mm..." that is linked at the bottom of the original page, "Hin" says:

"[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]My replacement of a metal lens hood seem to do a better job in contrast and flare control than my previous plastic hood."

If Hin means the hood in the photo at the top of the first page, then I have to say it looks rubber to me. Having looked at the larger version of the hooded pic, it does seem that the hood is somehow screwed into the the front of the lens!

Here is the latest reply from Tamron.....

Hello James,

There are other lenses hoods with the same diameter but they may not fit correctly. The hoods are usually made specific to each lens with a few exceptions. We do have current lens hoods that are also 77mm in diameter but the design is completely different. In some cases the hood might not click in properly. You might want to check out a dealer here in NY called KEH Camera. They carry older and refurbished units. They might have the original hood. Please see their web site here: https://www.keh.com/

Kind regards,

Now why would a company use a different mount for certain lenses. The tooling costs would be ridiculous, seemingly they were not bothered. Hasselblad has used the same mount for every V system lense since the year dot, as have many other manufacturers.
