We tried Tapatalk a few years back and it did not work well with RFF. However I am willing to give it another try if members think its worth a 2nd look.

Yes.
FR seems to be kicking back a lot of error messages. Something new is worth a try.

Forum Runner was a pain to use. Tapatalk is far better...

I didn't vote because I don't know Tapatalk and use Forum Runner only for three fora, one of those is RFF. BTW: Is this a poll for what we want or what we use?
FR works properly with RFF but cannot display/manage very long lasting threads over hundreds of pages. Is Tapatalk better on this?

Ambitious, but rubbish
I have never tried Forum Runner because the app is not free, and I don't view it as being absolutely necessary. I use Tapatalk for other forums.

Forum runner works fine for me, as did tapatalk previously. Is it possible to implement both? I really don't care either way.

I tried both. For the iPhone, I strongly prefer Forum Runner. Tapatalk never worked well for me.

I get this message all the time lately...on iOS6 (iPhone 4s).

There is a free version of Forum Runner for Android, which I use. I only read on mobile, though, I wouldn't try to post with my cell phone.

About 50% of the time using FR and RFF on iOS (6.1x-7.1) I'll get a parsing error, especially when trying to post a new thread or trying to jump to the most recent page of a long thread.
About 80% of the time I access forums is on my iOS device.
My vote is with Tapatalk.

I'm just using the internet browser that came on my Galaxy S4. Works just like my desktop. What is the advantage of these apps?

The mobile OS I used only have Tapatalk, but it's the negligible 3rd place.
Voting for lightweight mobile template. The brutally minimalist version so it wouldn't take much of the bandwidth, other than the pictures in forum posts.

I have an iphone 4s with the latest ios version. Downloaded tapatalk and forum runner. Use forum runner, because tapatalk don't let me add rff. Why? Many of us are satisfied with tapatalk and may be with this can avoid the frequent error with forum runner (see attachment). This +1
It is the parsing error you always get on very long threads with FR.
Annoying

I frequent another forum that uses Xenforo as it's forum software. When viewed on mobile, it gives a very usable presentation that is readable, and has the most used controls on the top layer. Previously that forum used the same vBulletin software now in use here.

I am using Tapatalk with most of the forums I visit. Seems to work well. I think out of two Tapatalk has the wider user base.

Correct. Since the Fuji X Forum and its German counterpart use IP.Board 3.4.6 I just handle the mobile skin from my mobile phone browser and don't use a special forum app anymore.I frequent another forum that uses Xenforo as it's forum software. You can glance at it from your notebook/desktop environment too, using the mobile skin bottom left.
But, I don't know if the forum SW we use here (vbPortal) has similar functionality.

I paid for Forum Runner but it's not that helpful. I don't know about Tapatalk. On the iPad, I find it easier just to use the normal interface.

On my ASUS tablet I' not encountered any problem using the normal interface. That said I've no idea/experience of the 2 alternatives Stephen has offered
