Maybe this will encourage us to use what we already have. Ha, ha, in that regard, tarrifs might actually be good for some of us !!! Here in the States when local governments were finally allowed to tax out of state mail orders, that cut down my buying and selling, and that's ultimately a good thing, for me, personally. Most of you probably have enough stuff to last several lifetimes, so get out and use what you have, instead of searching for the next new, different gadget. On the other hand, tariffs may reduce demand, which may actually eventually reduce pricing. Isn't that how it theoretically works?

Yep, and I'm a prime example. I once made a list of all the cameras that passed through my house over the last three decades and I was duly impressed with the weight of it all. On the flip side, I gained a lot of experience with different systems. I would've saved a lot of time and money if I just listened to the old photographers who told me Leica for rangefinders, Nikons for SLR's, something else for MF, but it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun.

The topic was eBay purchases of used cameras and lenses from Japan, and there are many US eBay sellers. 🙂

Sonnar Brian has noted Japanese sellers are lowering prices on such gear.

The push for tariffs ultimately is to bring back manufacturing and jobs to the US, in fact Japanese cars made in the US aren’t subject to tariffs. And Japanese car makers are cutting prices dramatically (20% year on year) according to Bloomberg:

" in practice is that buyers will be more likely to trade with US suppliers"..... Has nothing to do with Japan...but many buyers from other countries are not buying good from USA or US suppliers, (or travelling to the USA).
 
for sure! film especially has gotten ridiculous.

I bought some headphones last month (June 13) and they went on sale for Amazon Prime Day (July 8-11)...this morning I opened a chat with Amazon and they issued a credit for the difference. I still had 4 days left to return them. don't stop shopping just because you've completed a purchase. 😎
