Thanks for the help in getting this place going. My other site www.hometheaterdiscussion.com started off the same way and now is extremely popular. I am hoping that this will follow in its foot steps. All the help I get will greatly be appreciated.

shooting with a rangefinder is unique and i would love to talk to others who share that experience.
when i shot in 35mm, i had a minolta cle and just loved that thing. i regret selling them.
my point is that i prefer rangefinders to slr's.

I own a Minolta Unionmat, the version of the Hi-Matic made for the Japanese market. It dates from 1964 which is, I believe prior to the introduction of the Hi-Matic to the USA. It sports a Rokor 45mm f2.8 lens and a no longer functioning selenium meter which is circular and surround the lens. Unfortunately, the settings are only for exposure value so I have no idea what f-stop or shutter speeds are being used. The rangefinder is very accurate, though and the lens very, very sharp. Its been sitting around my house since my wife found it some years ago and I used it only for the first time last June, using a downloaded conversion table to determine the EV. The results were terrific.

i have 2 minolta 7s cameras and am bidding on 2 more on ebay.
i like the feel of the camera and the lenses are sharp enough for me.

One of the nicest things about the Minolta is the shutter button which reminds me of my Leica (an M-1 with a Cooke Amotal f2 bought for about a hundred bucks used in Sweden about 40 years ago) which depresses so gently that there is no camera shake.

i think not - so far i have bid on 4 and 'won' 3.
the first had a non working meter.
the second is in the mail.
and i just won the 3rd this afternoon.
the 4th is ending in about a day & a half.
i will be letting one go to a buddy of mine that wants to get into the all metal and manual control world of 70's rangefinders. i guess i get a little excited when i talk about them and he caught the fever.
i'd love to get a minolta 7sll but they are too pricey for me. this way i have 2 cameras for street use that are cheap enough to use carefree and also shoot 2 kinds of film.
it's a wonderful life...
