Just out of courisity I took 4 FSU lenses 7 did a "bokeh test" mostly to see if the lenses focused right with my Bessa R. I used the J-3, I-61l/d, J-8, & I26m. I forgot I have a rigid 50/3.5 darn it, or it would of been added!
The J-3 which is the 1st shot was way off, close focusing if I remember right! brian gave me instruction on how to make it better so I made a thinner shim. Close enough I think! The I 61l/d seems off! I don't understand why the background isn't more out of focus! It's good at aperatures 5.6 or better! To me I can't really tell any difference in this J-8 or the J-3. & finally I'm suprised at the I 26m. Came out better than I thought! & yes I did focus on the crappy mailbox!
I recognised the J-8 from the shot 🙂 i'm getting used to spotting that lens! i have all of those except the J-3 and i don't really use them too much these days. i find FSU lenses produce a... busy image? does that make sense? i like it in colour but don't care for the look in mono.
Yeah, there's something about the FSU lens design ... "busy" bokeh is how I see it. My Arsat lenses for my Kiev 60 / 88 are the same. They're still fun to experiment with, though.
Only lens I redid the shims on was the J-3. The J-8 was shimmed before I got it. I am partial of the J-3 but I can't tell any difference in the 8 or the 3.
