I see it has lost a bit of leatherette on the hood. Since you have sent it to repair, are you going to give it new leatherette as well? http://www.cameraleather.com sell kits that fit.
 
Hello Baby lovers

I collected 4x4 TLR sometime ago, I had like six or eight different pre-war Rollei, one '57 grey and one '63 black (there was fourteen different Rollei 4x4 TLR versions at all if I correctly remember), and all the three versions of the Yashica 44 in all colors, but I didn't use them enough so I sold everything a few years ago except the two post-war Rollei

There they are among my Rollei TLR family :

The grey has got its Rolleilux : a metal lenshood with a lightmeter on the side that folds inside the hood when not in use. Fine, nice and clever accessory. 🙂
 
So strange I read this thread earlier today and then when in my local camera shop I saw one that had just gone on consignment. It is a grey one with about 20 rolls of Efke 127 for $250. Everything seems to work. Is that a good deal?

they can be had for cheaper but the 20 rolls add up to a good ~$80 by themselves.

...as long as you don't forget to fold it out before taking a picture. 😉

Nice cameras. Have you noticed any differencies between the grey and black in use?

If the film rolls are fresh, then they are worth around $90, then the camera would be $160. They use to sell for $150 - $200, so it's an OK price.

it's a good deal, and a good deal of fun

the film is worth about $8/roll if I remember correctly

Yes, I am lucky, the man repairing the camera says he has leatheretter for it! Should come back like brand new... I can not wait!

And I paid $95 for this one, and now about $150 for repair with shipping. For me, this is a good deal.
 
I've never really figured out why people like 127 so much. I use a Mess Ikonta 6x6 and (until recently) an old Hasselblad both wonderful cameras yet my hands down favorite shooters are my Primo Jr. and a Foth Derby.

Its light and compact but still gives a image (38 x 38 mm?) considerably bigger than 24 x 36 mm. Espechially for sildes I prefer a square format, because with 2:3 I can only use 2/3 of the screen.

Also a folder in 4 x 6.5 cm can be very compact and light (310 g)
 
I think there might be a word missing from RichL's post - as at least one of his favourite shooters named is a 127 camera (not familiar with a Primo Jr).

What I like best about 127 is that it allows me to use my Purmas - crazy cameras with three shutter speeds, each depending on which way up you held it. If you don't believe me - http://www.vintagephoto.tv/purma.shtml

As I stated in my earlier post, I just picked up the camera my old friend left to me in his estate. It is mint, and shutter seems to work accurately at all speeds. Here is a quick snap. Excuse the focus issues, it was handheld.
This is the same camera as the Sawyer's Mark IV. 2.8 lens as opposed to the 3.5 in my baby Grey Rollei. Sawyer's rebranded it when they imported it. It's superslide time!

There is indeed, as Jeanba3000 says, the "cute factor" I think Thomas78 hit closer to home for me though. My Primos Jr. is every bit the quality TLR yet it will fit with no problem into a coat pocket.

Muggins... I've been tempted more than once. 🙂
