you do have the Rollei Crossbird 127 film in the US. It's available here:

Rollei Crossbird is simply the Rollei CR 200 slide film. And this film is the original Agfa RSX II 200 emulsion coated on a PET base by Agfa-Gevaert in Belgium www.agfa.com

Mounts for SuperSlides are offered by Gepe.

Compared to my Rolleiflex Automats and my Mamiya c330 it is tiny. I was about to order film when Jan provided the link for Crossbird which sounds quite interesting.

I don't know where in the world you are, but the Special is cheap enough in the UK that postage anywhere is unlikely to be too silly. They're also Bakelite and light, whereas the Plus feels like it wanted to be a Nikon - there's so much mass that when the shutter closes at 1/500th it bounces in your hand! It also has the worst viewfinder I've ever seen - including box brownies!

Other than plain weird, the only real problems with the Special are the long, long, long travel on the shutter release, and the lack of a tripod bush.

The Focal Press did a guide which turns up on ebay fairly frequently - worth a read for what people did with them.

Jeff,

Crossbird is a slide film, it's exactly Rollei CR 200 film, which is made by Agfa-Gevaert. It is the Agfa RSX II 200 emulsion.

If you develop this film in E6, you will get normal slides.

If you develop this film in C-41, you will get cross-processed pictures.
AFAIK on the packing is C-41 for cross-processing, that is the reason for the name "Crossbird".
The film is aimed at the Lomo crowd.

But it is a normal slide film if developed in E6.

That true and Super Slides will fill the complete (square) screen (as does 6x6).

I am very satisfied with the crossbird 127 and the xenar lens and use the baby rollei occasionally as a travel camera.
 
I'm anxious to try some Crossbird in my Yashica 44.

Everytime I take that little Y44 out in public I get all kinds of comments and people want to see it. They ask me to take their pictures with my tiny TLR.

I've got a Yaschica 44, and 6 or 8 rolls of the Rollei 127 film in the 'fridge. I'll try to post pix of it in the next day or 3.
 
Sorry I sold my Yashica 44 collection a few years ago, I had 44 grey, 44LM grey, 44LM black, 44A grey, 44A blue, 44A lavender (and missed the 44A cream/brown), and no pictures of them. Very cute cameras.
 
I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of some rollei 80s and Efke 100. I'm looking forward to putting the new Primo Jr. through its paces. I'll post the images as soon as I can. Does anyone know if the Cross-processed Crossbird has any color artifacts when processed in C-41 chemistry?
 
Got word that my Baby Rollei is done at the repair shop, just need to wait for it to get here and I still need to order some film for it!!!....
 
I'd like to find a Rollei or Primo Jr. sometime. The Baby TLR's are very cool.

I just made up 4 rolls of 127 Portra 160nc. I'm about 1/4 into a 100' roll of 46mm bulk with another full roll in the freezer. That ought to last me a little while 🙂

That and I've still got 4 rolls of 127 Efke R100 and Rollei Retro 80 in the fridge as well.

Time to get that little black Yashica 44a out on the street again.
 
I bought a Rollei 4x4 postwar black baby new in about 1970. Still have it, with original box, but, alas, not with the leather case made for the postwar black cameras. I "exercise" the shutter from time to time but haven't taken pictures with it for some 30 years. I was about to put it up for sale but now, with this thread, I'm not sure. I am trying to consolidate to Leica/Voigtlander, Pentax-M, and Nikon systems. So, my plan has been to sell the Rollei 4x4 and my beloved Alpa 9d.
