Just have to say the Canon P I just bought a wonderful camera for the money! 1.8 rigid,soft release button,GMP grip,I love it!

With the 50/1.8 attached, it's an inexpensive, wonderful combo. Or try the Jupiter 50/1.5 for a nice sonnar alternative.

I have the Industar 61LD that I bought from one of the members ,I have not developed that roll of b&w yet,there are some good reviews on it.I see the Jupiter 1.5 for about 125.00 an Fedka. I am waiting for one to come along on the forum.Thanks.BB52

I'd be hard to convince that the M2/3s are better than the P; the latter is especially easier to load.
You just can't go wrong w/ Fedka's lenses that have been CLA'd and collimated (extra charge).

I have and used to use a lot the I 61 LD, but put it aside for the Canon 50s I picked up, a 1.8 and a 1.4, but the FSU lenses are no slouches! When I needed to sell my other Canon P, it went with my I 26M, and looking over the images I made with that lens, I'm kicking myself. The J3 I found was $50, and very badly scratched, but even wide open, a wonderful lens.
Fedka is the place to go, indeed for a quality item, I had no knowledge that he's collimate the thing too! That would be ideal. (Be sure to ask if it has been re-lubed - these things are notoriously sticky due to the use of "bear grease" all those years ago!)
PS - Speaking of collimating, wasn't Brian Sweeney a good man to do a CLA/collimating on the FSU lenses? Where are you, Mr. Sweeney?

I'm the new and happy owner of a P. Very pleasant to use indeed, and oozing quality. Camera feel is part of the pleasure for me, although I like my FED-2 too. First roll nearly finished. Started with an Industar 61, then swapped for a recently acquired Jup-8. I wonder if I'll notice any real difference between those two lenses in terms of image quality, softness, contrast. Can't wait for the results. I'll post some if they are worth it.

MV72 - you'll spot a difference, they have a different "look" - I61 has more contrast in B&W, and more "modern-looking" saturated colour.

P is really nice camera. Its the one that set my fire up on RF, after having Zorki 4 with loose diopter lens that randomly wobbles around when focusing... Got me seasick.
FSU lenses fit very well with P but they tend to back focus, so when using FSU on P body, pull your head about 3 cm after focusing before pressing the shutter button.
A soft release button will be a nice compliment.

I have a users chrome Canon P that has become my workhorse almost each week. A while ago, I added a black Canon P from the auction site in Japan. Both cameras have been checked for RF accuracy when at one stage the two cameras gave me different distance readings with the same lens. It was a small adjustment job and both cameras' RF readings now agree.
I sold pretty cameras but kept the users P because of its functionality.

The P is indeed a lovely, simple, functional tool, and a joy to use. It's also solidly built, of high quality materials. The VF won't give my M3 a fight, but it is functional, and the ability to change FOV eliminates seperate VF's when using things like the superb Canon 35/2.
The prices for nice examples has held pretty steady in this trying period, which isn't a shocker to most of us. The camera offers strong ROI value at its usual price range.

You an almost imagine a group of Canon engineeers over 50 yrs. ago peering over, dissecting an M2 or 3 and devising ways they could improve on it with the not-as-yet designed Model P.
