This PaX 35 was part of my father's collection. After sitting forlornly on a shelf for many years I decided to try a few simple measures and see if I could get it working. I'm glad I did, because it's actually a pretty fun little shooter.

The rangefinder was frozen with old grease. I finally managed to free it up with some Ronsonol; it's still sluggish but useable. The glass was surprisingly clear, and the lens focuses freely. I have a little more information over on my blog.

Here's a photo of the PaX I with a Fed 1 for scale.

And here are some of my first shots. These are on some long-expired C41 film.

There are a couple more shots over on my flickr account. Unfortunately the rewind jammed after the second roll, and I only just figured out that it was because I'd over-tightened the set-screw on the fim sprocket. So don't do that. Now that that's fixed, it's time to take it out for another spin.

I've seen a few of these for sale on the evil bay and often wondered what they were like to take pictures with. I guess the lens isn't bad but not Zeiss quality, but like you said, it looks like a fun camera to take pictures with. Thanks for the information.
