Ahh the joys of triplet based lenses. Looks like you'll get some great shots with that lens. Are you daring enough to see if the lens will collapse into the rd1?

you don't look THAT old...

Old picture, but one of the few I have of myself. Still, it was taken with a LTM f3.5 Elmar on my camera but not by me. I'm not big on lens quality but maybe that is because the Elmar was so good for so many years that I didn't expect much better. I still have never had a better lens for color.

i am really looking forward to shooting with this lens based solely on the images i have seen here and elsewhere.
i think the rd1 gives some great colour on it's own and coupled with the elmar i am hoping for some wonderful things.

My favorite lens. With good lighting conditions and using f5.6, you will love the images this lens produces. Enjoy!

I am disappointed that Charjohncarter is using an old picture. For a moment I thought that he started using his Leica in 3rd grade or that inhaling fixer is really the fountain of youth. :D

Maybe, I should update that Avatar. Pitxu did it on a daily basis, but I had so much trouble getting this one to work, I just left it. Anyway, the 50mm Elmar is great digital or film. Here is one from way back (1965):

While I really like Tessar and Xenar in MF, I really never warmed up to Tessar Coll. in 35mm format. I do have a Russian Industar, which I guess is similar design and I do like some pics from it, but I prefer other lenses for Leica much more. Hope you can take some pics and post here that will change my mind about it, Joe.
