Peace, Love and Happiness...

How about Peace & Rhymes? This shows some of the streaking you can get with this technique (these aren't surge marks, but yellow streaks on the surface of the film that I think I could wipe of when wet. If the picture was worth it, I could rewash the negative and then try, but then again, it's not worth the effort in this case! It was just starting to rain and the light was overcast and wretched.

Nikon F6 + Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AI-S + TC-16A AF Telextender​

Mostly near wide open ...

I find that the TC-16A AF teleconverter works ok, focus is best if I'm stopped down to f/2-2.8 on the 50mm lens. I'm certain from testing that I can focus the 50/1.2 more accurately with manual focusing when wide open. I'll likely not use it much, but it's kinda fun to have around.

I've ordered a Nikon 35/2 AF-D lens, just to have one native AF lens that I can also use on the F, but I may well send it back since the 28mm and the 50mm are so easy to focus anyway. I do prefer manual focus most of the time; AF is a nice convenience.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with the camera. Just have to get used to its bulk and weight.

Last night I soldered a power supply and a potentiometer to the motorised Rondinax and tonight I wanted to try it with a colour film. Having no one else home, sat myself in front of the F6 and guessed the focus (rather badly). The Superia 400 came out of the machine quite nicely though:

Sorry, but I only post the rendering of a given image that I am comfortable posting. I use color film sometimes for a color rendering but also to allow B&W filtering, and for other characteristics of the film.

This one I rendered both color and B&W, but I like the feel of the color I developed in it.

BTW: Superpan 200 is a royal pain to use. The base is so thin that the F6 doesn't transport it evenly, and it's not only fussy in the Coolscan V auto-feeder but the variable frame spacing makes auto-feeding a tedious game too. It won't flatten easily either. On the other hand, it's got a lovely rough-grain look to it the way I'm processing it and the spectral sensitivity is like having a light-orange filter fitted, which is my normal setup for daylight work, without the hit on film speed. I have a third roll in the M4-2 at present.
