Along the last years we have been reading over RFF pages about the very unfriendly social weather towards photography. Fine, if you have the money - I have tested the medicine.

It is called Antalya, a Turkish city at the Mediterranean coast, which my Israeli fellows flock by their hundreds of thousands every year, and still they are a small water drop among the 20 million tourists passing through, every year.

And still, since the city is growing and already nears over one and half million Turkish citizens, the tourists are an almost fringe phenomena for the street photographer. And this is due first and foremost to the extremely good character of the local people, which don't seem to be bothered or threatened by a simple device called - a camera.

Truly, I have no words to describe my joyce for mingling with these folks which show a great respect and symphaty towards the foreigner, for contributing to the developing of their city, and for being another human like themselves.

In the past I have been at Istambul, and although obviously the capital is an atractions treasure, I don't remember being there so comfortable with the people as I felt with these Antalyian fellows, two cameras on my shoulders.

Of course among the women, some wear traditional clothes and they will lower their head without any recrimination. But at least half of the women are not traditional and will let you photograph them as if you were praising them.
As for all other sectors - I have not seen any problem at all for my cameras.

I went to Antalya with two Canonets 1.9 and an Olympus SP loaded with Neopan 1600. Hardly I made a dozen of images with the Oly. But the hero among the two Canonets was one customized for half frame, loaded with fujicolor 100. You can see the "photostream" results of this camera at my flickr address:

The other Canonet was loaded with Neopan 400 and two films are waiting to be processed. But the camera can be seen here, at a picture made with the half frame Canonet:
