The Mandler 35mm f2

Well, I thought I’d join the club and apparently a black LTM will be on the way soon.I didn’t bother with accessories though.

It seems they opened the shop doors a little earlier than announced and the price has risen a bit.
Oh well, I thought that was what was on the way. Lens just arrived, marked LTM on the outer box, but inside was a M mount. Have mailed Mandler with photos; but I have horrible feelings this will be a tricky problem to resolve.

Make sure what you're seeing is not the attached LTM-to-M-adapter. Mandler actually had a short Insta-Video out demonstrating this, apparently a whole lot of customers initially thought they'd been sent the lens in M-mount, when what they (as ordered) got was a LTM with tightly attached LTM-to-M-adapter.

I’m a happy bunny again! I had even thought about that possibility but it seemed too tight and I didn't want to break it. I even missed the obvious give away on the name ring.

Thanks for the tip. Though it would have been useful for them to signal this in the so called Instructions document.

That’s pretty cool.

Thankfully, I don’t mind looking like an idiot in front of friends. I think a little note in the box would have been helpful though.
We’re all idiots in our own way. It’s why tolerance goes a long way towards having friends, or a society.

A v4 on an ltm camera is awesome. Do you have a SBLOO?

To those who've already been able to try the Mandler 35 f2 and have experience with Canon 35mm f2 and/or f2.8 LTM:

how does the edge sharpness/field curvature compare? So far I've gathered that the Mandler 35 f2 is very sharp in the center already wide open, so in that regard it would without a doubt be a clear improvement on the Canon 35mm f2.8 LTM which I'm using at the moment. (The Canon 35 2.8 is no slouch, but I am still pining for the Summaron 2.8 which I had to sell many years ago.) But sharpness across the frame: does the Mandler need even more stopping down in order to get decent edge to edge sharpness than the Canon LTM offerings?

What was the field of view like before it broke? I've seen some people say it's more like 45mm or even 50mm than it is 35mm. Kinda defeats the point if it's basically a 50mm viewfinder!
Sadly I don't recall as I only used it on my Leotax at the time in 2022, and then on my IIIC not long after in 2023 and was test fitting it then when it broke then.

My Canon 35/2 LTM is as sharp in the center as anything else. At the moment I can only compare it directly to M-Hexanon 35/2 and the little Canon is sharper in the center at f2. At f2 it just falls apart at edges and corners. I only shoot on film so any lens is sharp enough for me at f8.0 and this tiny Canon 35/2 is no exception. Sharp enough across the entire frame.
