the more i'm thinking that i don't really need a pro-x1 but i might want an x100 again!!

first, i have no interest in possible zoom lenses..little interest in the 28 and none in the 60...that leaves the 35 (50 fov) which would be my second choice behind a 35mm (23 for the fujis).

currently there is no 23 for the pro-x...

my interest in a change has more to do with wanting an af camera that resembles a rangefinder...both fujis do that!

my rd1s do what i like now...keeping the 21/40 combo is a definite...

the d90 and lenses do all sorts of things that i am liking (for the change).

so, save my money (or sell a couple of lenses) for a used x100 ...could be a plan!!

I feel the same, my X100 has a lens that is suitable for most of my shots, the latest firmware (in my opinion) makes it much more snappy and I have my GF1 with 20mm & 45-200mm when needed. This doesn't mean I won't succumb to GAS later on but for now I am OK.

I think your problem might be solved with less thinking and more going out and taking photos.😀
I have the same problem and find when i forget about the equipment i find all i need is one camera that i trust.

i have heard this so many times before...but the flaw in the thinking is that i do go out and shoot. i bet i post more images than most folks on rff on a regular basis.

i traded it for another rd1 body as i had sold an rd1 body to get the x100...i know, twilight zone...i just like have 2 rd1 bodies.

as for the x100, i liked it...a lot! i loved the iso 3200 images...my biggest problem is lack of cash.

Given the reports that started circulating in the past weeks, the X-Pro1 offers limited AF improvements on the X100, which is a little disappointing.

The X100's monstrous sync speed is definitely worth looking into.

If a 35mm focal length was my preferred choice, I'd go for the X100 as well, but alas I prefer a 50

We photogs are a weird bunch. It appears GAS is the gateway drug to RAS (ReAquisition Syndrome). I sold a Mamiya 7II a year or so ago and thanks to this fine forum and its fine members, bought one back!

i got rid of it because i wanted a second rd1 body again...i like using 2 of my favourite camera.
i also thought i would pick up a second hand x100 again sometime in the future or perhaps the new fuji...
the x-pro looks like a great machine but when i think about it i don't really want the other lenses and i don't want to give up my 40 sonnar...maybe when the day comes that i can't manually focus i'll be forced to an all af cadre of gear.

I'm with you the X100. I just got one to try it and I'm REALLY enjoying it. I don't like that it's occasionally a little wiggy and often obtuse, but I very much dig the OVF--and the great jpegs that come out of, like the Epson or Olympus JPEGs. Like the R-D1, it's really a fun camera.

But I think if you can hold off prices for the X100 will go even lower. Once the X-1 pro starts shipping out, there will be people dumping their X100s. The ones for sale now are likely the early adopters who need to sell their X100s at the best price to afford the X-1 Pro.

I've thought about the X-1 pro but the price is too high for just a body, and I don't see it as a good platform for Leica M lenses in terms of focusing--I mean, might as well just shoot with a Nex or Ricoh GXR if you can't use the OVF. My current plan is to get back into Micro-4/3. I'm not crazy about the looks of the EM-5, but the 16mp sensor and the weather proof thing (and the built in EVF and stabilization) has my interest piqued. I'll have that and the Summilux DG for my fast 50 and the X100 for my 35 with best possible high ISO performance, and then for a while just the kit zoom and maybe one of the superwides for fun.

I don't to want to confuse or tempt you further, so I'll close with saying the x100 isn't a bad idea. Sometimes the second time is the charm. But think it through and go slow. The price will just keep getting lower.

If I had another body/system with interchangeable lenses, I'd probably stick with the X100 and let the mirrorless cameras mature for another generation.

But I find myself wanting wide and 50 more often these days and though I'm tempted by the D800 I think I'm diving in to the XP1.

How do you know he doesn't photograph a lot already? It seems some think that you are supposed to photograph 24/7 and not enjoy anything else in life. Kind of silly.

The other thing to realize is that the X100 is smaller and lighter with a smaller lens and also dead quiet. It's a great take anywhere camera... which, based on your current cameras, could be good to have. The XPro1 is significantly bigger.
