The new Leica csc camera chassis?

I think many would like Leica to be more like Linhof and Alpa (as far as 'philosophy' is concerned) and less like 'ordinary' camera makers such as Fuji, Canon, Nikon ...

I kind of agree w/ u on some level Godfrey....but it is not just Leica, I c this behavior w/ a lot of different brands.. Leica does seem to get the worst of it though. It is as though people don't really understand that companies need to make money. This stupid idea that occurred about 10-15 years ago about no immediate profit but taking market share so u are last one standing, to me maybe at the heart of it. People have gotten used to getting things at near cost or below when a company is shooting for market share over profit (example Microsoft game console).

Any good company is going to understand the market segment that they need to target and what their profit margin needs to be to stay in business. I realized long ago, that I don't fit the Leica market profile and I am ok w/ that.

The important thing to me is that there are enough viable camera companies around to have diversity and innovation.

The other aspect really is that while Leica makes a really really good profit, in the grand scheme of things they don't have the manufacturing factories like a Nikon, Canon or Sony. Some of it is because they came in a bit late into the digital game. I have heard that they are expanding their manufacturing capability and this new csc maybe the first we will c of something different.

Anyway just MHO.

Keeping my fingers crossed that body resembles the X series of cameras and has features like a real shutter dial. If it does end up looking like what has been posted on the rumor sites well let just say that I have zero interest in some thing that looks like a prop from some B grade SCI FI movie.

It's a red dotted eos m rifht down to tge f2/23mm prine. :p. ... jk!
Wonder if they use the lens mount and register distance of their M mount.
That would set this baby ahead in some way.

Wow, pretty body!!!

3k...for sure they know this gem will be used with every lens but leicas native mount :D:D:D so they must cut pockets immediatelly

I was looking for an x vario....think they will drop like a flamming zeppelin!!!

If it is, I hope they tweaked it so that corners are not smeared when wide M lenses are used.

The 16 Mpixel Sony sensor as used in the NEX 5n/6 models showed very little smearing or corner artifacts. Not quite at the correction level of the Ricoh GXR-M mount sensor, but definitely in the game. One can expect that Leica has worked on this design a bit given that they're supporting their own lens adapter with M-lens coding reader too.

Man that optional evf is huge.. Their own m adapter. Too bad they didn't just setup to use m lenses w/o the adapter....

Not a bad looking camera.

Drats, no EVF. Maybe the T2 will have one.
Well, it has an optional external EVF - I'm not sure if it's using the same slightly (cosmetically) re-worked/re-badged Olympus VF-2 as the M type 240 or if they've gone for the VF-4 (or something else entirely). I suppose tomorrow will tell (not that I'm in the market for one).

I do like the premise, unibody design (not 100% sure about certain aesthetics details but it's a personal thing), internal memory with wifi, etc. If it was around 1k - 1.5k price point, I would have actually considered it, but 3k is too much for this camera...
