The new rudeness at RFF...

i don't think agreement is necessary, but 'how' the disagreement is offered is what is in question, as i see it anyway.

there have been some very rude comments/accusations towards jorge in various threads of late.

personally i would have closed the threads and booted the 'offenders' but jorge is a much classier guy than i am.

I've never seen "Calm" Ruben in such a mood before; but he has good reasons to be so. Ruben, my friend, I support your argument and I like the way you put it. This afternoon, I was a bit lazy (and tired) to develop my point as you did ... you did it best anyway ;)

PS: I underlined the key part for me.

I support Freedom of the Press AGAINST Bussiness Secrecy.

Why? For several reasons, including ethical values, human survival, and the democratic education I happened to get in my beloved Argentina. Thus I support full transparency, FULL accountability, FULLY opened books, FULL rights to investigate, expose, criticize, uncover.

Why, because I wish my local authorities one day will uncover the giant and unlawful evadition of taxes the company for which I work performs (while I, like any other simple worker have to pay in full), plus the giant ecological damage my company performs every day, plus the giant abuse of the workers rights. I want my company to be exposed, all companies to be exposed, and maximum transparency let to be.

benefits of having your new product in the press (in images and reviews) long before its official release :

1. Build a drooling market. This is just like the smell of dinner before it's served. It gets the mouth to watering.
2. Watch how the market reacts to the images and comments - use this to devise a more accurate marketing strategy.
3. Watch for ideas on peripheral products such as cases, lenses, finders, whatever.
4. Understand the most interested markets - know where your best bets will be come release time.

Such leaks only serve to bolster the market readiness. They set the market up for buy-mode long before it would have been otherwise. This ensures that people will have done a great deal of thinking and talking before the release date and that they are likely to be in buyitnow mode sooner.

There are ZERO negative effects to early leaks of accurate inside information of the marketing variety. What you DON'T want are shots of failed prototypes or other innacurate pieces of information that might set a potential market on a less than positive path. You don't want people posting false images and reviews that might sway potential buyers into the arms of a competitor.

Once you have your product ready to go to market (at least to be photographed), you should make every effort to get word out ASAP - this just helps keep your customers on the line.

This is very enligthening Shutterflower; very interesting for me who is a complete alien to marketing and more generally to business world. Thanks.

The way I look at it, I'd rather speculate about the rear LCD of the M8 than the rear of Paris Hilton!

Hm, me I'm not so sure. Do you have photos of both so that I can take a more educated decision?

I agree with Finder.
I was the one who called the new RF style of journalism "Paparazzi Style".
I withdrew my post because i felt guilty because Jorge created RF forum .. a place i enjoy everyday. And thought it was not worhwile to leave the message there.

I just want to clarify because i still stand to my point..
With Paparazzi style i am not judging Jorges moral .... Paparazzi style to me means spreading rumours just to sell copies (hits for this site in this case).
I do not read that type of papers or magazines because they disgust me and i do not take them serious.....i see RF forum hidding in that direction ..... nothing more, nothing less.

So i will not read or participate in discussions relating to the M8 or digital vs Analog anymore and move over to the Gallery part of the forum.

Jorge has every right to act as he wants and does .... but so does everybody who disagrees ......

No offenses .. no pissing on the carpet .. just a firm disagreement of opinion....... i just hoped grown up people could handle that!

You equate all this to 'paparazzi style journalism' and then you get pissy and say 'I just hoped grown up people could handle that!'.
What's wrong with you?

Jeez Rich, I have read a lot of your posts and thought you were better than this. Did you read the title of the original post? Everyone has a right to an opinion and not be derided for it. Remember that on your next "opinion" post.

;)

Oh, RFF. What would I do without this place? Probably go elsewhere.

But, I would never be as happy.

I hope there is nothing wrong with me:)
I do not get pissy at all .... i just do not like to be called rude or accused of pissing on somebodys carpet because i do not agree or like the way RFF handles news/ rumours.
I still think Paparazzi style is the best way to describe it ... no need to get excited about .... some people are proud to be Paparazzi ...... and tabloids sell big time ..... it just is not my piece of cake, nor do i take it serious.

The more i think about it the more i regret i even mentioned my feelings or go into this discussion with you ... because it is not worth it.

So my last word is said about the topic.
Let's go shoot pictures!

>>This is a forum about RF cameras. hence delivery of news is key to the forum as well. So if there is industry information we all would like to see I am going to publish it. This is not the N.Y Times where the news has an agenda and comes before national security.<<

I very much appreciate Jorge's efforts with this site. In light of his statement above, Jorge's site has shown one of the first photos of a controversial new product that could make or break a company. Using anonymous sources he considers reliable, he came into possession of information that would help the public make informed decisions without the facts being filtered through the "official" PR or legal department of that company. Or perhaps that company quietly "leaked" the photo to get its agenda into the public realm.

Some question the credibility and accuracy of the information. Others question the ethics of disclosing it. Jorge argues for a higher level of the public's right to know.

I think Jorge's a lot more like the New York Times than he would care to admit.

MATES ... it is just a 'picture' of a camera.

Let's put aside the acrimony and go shooting with the M(x<8) that we have, shall we?

or at the very least, lets start posting pictures of J-Lo et al's rears so we can do some comparisons.... but please.. no discussion on real or fake!:bang:

I have just experienced a nice bit of rudeness from a fellow member. I won't accept that from anyone.

OF course, I need to pay attention to my own clumsiness as well.

I shouldn't be too negative about paparazzi in this forum ;) After all, the original Paparazzo in Fellini's La Dolce Vita used a Leica MP exclusively, from time to time with Leicavit, as I recall. He might have been a member here...:p

They don't make them like that anymore! :(
