The USAF 1951 target is available only from silverfast at 69Eur + shipping? Perhaps there are cheaper alternatives?

Seems like reflecta.de also does not accept credit card or paypal, what is wrong with German companies? I wanted to buy the AN glass frames

I wonder if using AN-Glass slide mount for 35mm film with optical mounting fluid would allow to remove scratches the proper way? Anyone else tried this?
My friend here used isopropyl alcohol, or Glycerol. The glycerol-water mixture can be adjusted to an appropriate refractive index. Adding more water lowers the refractive index.
It is possible to buy specialized mounting fluid, but it's expensive and not sold in small amounts, for few hundred slides I doubt it viable to buy it ,except if at discounted price.

I only found the AN-glass frames at scanding, and a frames called
"Wess AHX500K slide mounts box with 50 pcs"
The AHX500K is 70Eur for 50 frames
The AN-Glass is 19Eur for 100 frames
So you get the idea that I'm thinking that using AN-glass with a drop of glycerin would remove the scratches and be less expensive to use. Given the fact I'll wash everything in Ultrasonic bath there is no problem for me to go this route. But would like to hear you ideas.
The AHX500K is perhaps better suited if you don't want to go and mess with fluids and stuff. Read some great reviews.

How did you profile your film?
I have targets (For film) but after profile the films with Silverfast and vuescan) I get more magenta cast from each software than the actual slide!

I noticed after some focus testing that the chromatic aberrations are quite heavy. Each color channel has another optimal focus area. This makes it impossible to gain perfect sharpness on the scan, when the colors are that much separated. Inspecting my previous scans confirms that the red channel is way to soft.
The following image is scanned at 5300dpi with an unexposed negative film. It is positioned in the regular film holder and one end is folded under the holder.
Do you think that this is normal and how does your opticfilm 120 unit perform?

you don't profile film, but your scanner.
There is an IT8 Target included with the scanner, I used this Target to profile it with Silverfast and Vuescan. For Vuescan, you need the reference file that is included with Silverfast, but you can download that from silverfasts homepage.

Couple of rescans, expired (09/1989) Svema DS-4 this time. Taken last spring with a Leica IIIa and 5cm Elmar.
I used a modified version of the workflow here to output a RAW file from Vuescan, then I inverted in ColorPerfect and colour corrected in Photoline.
Finally found a workflow where the IR dust / defect removal works properly using Vuescan. Means that I don't have to use Silverfast at all, which seems to produce awful artifacts using iSRD - including the test scans for these images.

I finally got my scanner !
The USAF resolution test chart shows bars from Group 6 Element 5 (5161ppi), and even element 6 (5793ppi) is still OK.
That is a bit better than the:
http://mikepasini.com/corners/2013/04/03-opticfilm-120/index.htm
"Our evaluation of the central part of the resolution chart is that bars are distinct in Group 6 at Element 4. That means the OpticFilm 120 can achieve an output resolution of 4598 dpi."

Can anyone explain how to do this? It should make better clean than vuescan.

Dear all,'
recently, after almost a year, my fellow opticfilm120 started to give me some kind of stripes, in colours images and in B&W as well
Any idea, advice...? I'm pretty depressed :bang:
