Shame on the Netherlands ... they could have come out and play their wonderful football. They played to destroy their opponent instead.
Congratulations to Spain, well deserved on this game.
(PS : Switzerland stays as the only team that beat Spain in that World Cup ... sigh)

the final is always very tense and rarely beautifull, but the best team is the winner. the winner takes it all and the winner deserves it. it's not one game, it's the whole tournament. well done Spain.

Spain won it. I have to ask, though: what would the game have been like with half the yellow cards?

Truth is beauty
I can't believe they made it without their best, fastest scorer Torres... Amazing! When lots of soccer experts talked one month ago about Spain winning the cup, I never believed them... The team started this cup being Europe champions and FIFA number two team in the world, and they have played the most beautiful and intelligent soccer, and deserved leaving the tournament being FIFA number one team in the world. Congratulations Spain!
Cheers,
Juan

I disagree, it's ALWAYS just the game, one after another. the spanish team proved that.

Well done to Spain. Thoroughly deserved. The Netherlands were lucky to not be down to nine men at half time. Leniency by the ref until he had no choice to send off Heitinga in extra time. Some of the fouls in the first half were woeful! Cynical play by The Netherlands to stop Spain playing their game. Shame they didn't attempt to play their own game. Spain wins, football wins!

Agree, the Netherlands were a disgrace, and they can play football - it was all so unnecessary. Great for Spain who deserved to win the game and I'm glad for Andres Iniesta who is a very humble individual.
I just wish they didn't try to walk the ball into the net all the time...

No. I have no particular brief for either Spain or Netherlands, but straight out of the gate Netherlands were dishing brutal and inappropriate hits. Total garbage play. Spain's play was tentative and not so fun to watch, but Netherlands absolutely deserved to lose. Disgusting.

Well deserved win. Not a particularly entertaining game but Netherlands lost respects and integrity. There could've been two more red for the netherland team. Robben had two best chances of the game and yet he couldn't convert it.
In the end, the better team wins.

The end of a wonderful month of soccer. The World Cup is a very enjoyable sporting event for me. I love the national pride and intensity of competition it breeds in the players. It is rare to see professional athletes play with that much passion which brings any sport to soaring heights.

Man of the match? Howard Webb?
Well earned win and title for Spain. Too bad the game didn't live up to the potential of beautiful play both teams were capable of producing, but that's normal for finals in this era.
Some naughty play, especially Jong's boot to the chest. That one should have caused Mr. Webb to bring out his red card immediately. The last time I saw that many cards in a game, I was a teenager and playing in the game (I remember 35 years later that the pitch had more rocks and dirt than grass).

For not sending off two Dutch players and ending it before half time ?
Well earned win and title for Spain
Agree with that ............
. The last time I saw that many cards in a game,
I was playing poker with two US marines (God bless them) and a US Rf4c Jock (God bless him too) .
Bit like 'Lend Lease' if we had been playing for 'real money' I would only just finished paying them off over 35 years later. OMG !!!

YALF (yet another lame finale). If I was a spanish football supporter I would think "success is what counts". I had a more outside view and I must say that I hate this overcontrolled spanish game with so much ball possession and only one goal. This sort of football seems to be highly effective but it's awful if you just want to have a nice evening with a nice football game.

Be thankfull your not an England supporter:bang:
Success always counts.
Does any European ever expect football at a world cup final without a South American team, preferably Brazil ?

Congratulations to the Spanish team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup. And thanks for entertaining us with excellent - brilliant - football! It was a joy watching the Spanish national team from the start to the end of the tournament.

hahaha you made my day... true, though.
Really a pity - if not a shame - that for Netherland players, opponents feet always came BEFORE the ball in order of priority....

Congratulations Spain,
It was a gruelling match; so many fouls, so many cards, so many off-sides. It wasn't a proper football game any more, it was more like a cage-fight.
Some fine charges and opportunities by both sides, but in the end; The best team won.
Even though I think that one pass just before the kick on goal the Spanish player was off-side.
