Was it Gary Lineker who said 22 players kick a ball around for 90 minutes and at the end the Germans win? Something like that... :)

On this definition the English must be the apotheosis of football..

If there it does go to penalties and we win, there will be national jubilation, and no-one at work on Monday morning ;)

It is attributed to Lineker, though some say it was Keegan. The phrase was :
"Football is a game of eleven against eleven, and in the end Germany always wins"
Was probably pretty accurate in their times, not so right for the last two decades though.
 
Tonight New Zealand plays Paraguay ....

if we win NZ will be closed tomorrow while we all celebrate

might even be declared a Public Holiday !

I am not so exactic. You don't let wingers play walking around in search of a solution like happened on the goal.

What this game showed is that Germany still knows how to win the important games and has, unlike in other occasions, some players that are very technical. It also shows that Ghana, like other African teams this year, is not rigourous enough to go to the final four.

I say Germany 2 - England 1. You like that don't you ? ;)

That's what they said when we played Italy ... are they not supposed to be good at the game or something?

I don't expect NZ to win only to play their best and if we do win then bravo for them and ha ha ha to everyone else

Well I'm looking forward to Sunday, it seems like it would be an even match. In the meantime, I'll go enjoy the hype in the British tabloids. :D

My bet for Sunday: it'll be a draw, and we'll win on penalties, because Rooney will miss his shot... just daydreaming... :angel:

On Sunday we'll have the referendum for a new Constitution here, so I'll just try not getting shot at. I doubt anybody will be showing football, or watching it for that matter. Look forward to reading the results on Monday, though.

Well guys
if you wait for the last 15 min of your world cup to awake.... None here would have sent Lippi (our ct, winner of the last world cup) again with such a silly team to play...
Don't worry, this is not a behaviour that a world cup team should keep. Slovakia rightfully won the match but I agree that the last 15 minutes were really hot !

The funny thing is that if I'm not wrong we're ALSO the LAST in our group, behind NZ which is said to be the least strong team in World CUP !!! - given 2000:1 (!) - Nothing wrong with them, nay !
