To my eyes the new Nickel Voigtlander 50/2 Heliar is the prettiest lens produced in the 10 year Cosina Voigtlander collaboration.
To me the beauty is the classic styling combined with the unusually pretty nickel finish.

Only 600 were produced worldwide.
They just arrived at CQ and are in stock while they last, $749. Free shipping world wide if you mention your RFF ID.
Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen,
I agree that's one purty(lol) lens, but I think the new 3.5 is a pinnacle of beauty. I also think this is better looking than the 50 f/2 in M mount, which I recently sold here. If I had the cash, I would have ordered the f/2 along with my f/3.5.
Some beautiful stuff is coming from CV.
Thanks for the f/3.5 though, I like this on ALL my Leicas.

I have to be content with the original Heliar 50 3.5. I am more interested in the optics of the lens. The new Heliar lenses are very beautiful, though.

what are they, the first lenses in 40 years to sport that kind of infinity lock/focusing tab? i love those things. i wish they were m-mount, though. screwmount lenses are narrower, so the adapter ring peeks out from the edges and doesn't look so clean on an m-mount camera. it would be nice if they used a nicer typeface than helvetica or whatever it is for the engravings.

I like the look of these lenses. The Nickel finish is nice and they feel like they have been carved out of solid brass! The infinity look is something that I have mixed feelings about - particularly on the M bayonet. Always "rides" the cam right at the infinity - goes "click" and locks. Still considering stripping at least one IIIf and having it nickel plated to match - maybe a Panda look with black speed dial and advance/rewind knob. It might be a decorater camera - but at least the optics are up to "snuff".

Nickle-plated IIIF? Oh, I think if I saw that in person it would be instant nirvana!

Love the look of this lens
Matched with a black leica body would be Kick A**

Very lovely !
Sort of a "nickel rigid Summar" for the 21st Century ?
I think I like the cap and hood as much as the lens itself !

I dont see what is so special about this lens - Coll. Hexanon 50/2.4 looks better and if this lens performs as the old version - I like signature of the Hexanon better too. Plus Hex is cheaper and almost as fast (sorry had to edit - I thought this was a 3.5 version) . But thats me - call me practical

I think if I were to get another 50mm, this would be it.
There be zombies here...
But I would agree; this lens sure looks nice on any of these bodies. I'm a little curious as to how it actually performs though.
Calzone has both this one and the 3.5 and I've borrowed them. They are actually very nice lenses. The 3.5 is the sharpest lens I've ever used corner to corner, has 0 distortion, and has a "clinical" but nice look to it. The f/2 is very nice as well and looks great wide open (a little soft, but in a flattering way for people). I've been trying not to buy both of them. I have two other F/2 lenses that are great and 3.5 is hard to fathom on a 50mm. However, the 3.5 CV is just spectacular. It is the one lens that lives up to the internet hype without any let downs. It's only a matter of time.

Been considering this lens. How does it compare to the Zeiss in signature, more so the bokeh? Only focuses to 1m right?
