Good poll. Al does know some exotic people. All we have in Blackpool is Keith Harris and Orville the duck. Oh ,and Sid Little.Whenever I bump into him all he talks about is Kylie Minogue .There was a chap though who used to come in the pub .He had done guide vocals for Elvis. Don`t remember his name at present. He was a star over here in the sixties, had a pony tail, pants splt on stage one night. He liked beer too .

"Do you remember Betty Page?"
Do you remember Cynthia Myers ?
Oh yes, although the British and the British press were still very restrained in the 60’s, there was nothing like Playboy in the UK, as a schoolboy on a trip to Belgium in 1966 the newsstands came as a real shock to me.
The best we had was titillation by innuendo in the Sunday papers, the John Profumo scandal, Mandy Rice-Davies and the iconic Christine Keeler did photograph well.
Her portrait by Lewis Morley is so typical of its era, and yet timeless in its appeal, LINK

Obviously I don't remember Bettie Page from originally, but I do remember a big revival of interest from the 90s.
Mmm. Beer. Nothing beats some good real ale.

Mr Kaplan, I don't think she's with us any longer. I remember something about her shuffling off this mortal coil earlier this century.
You certinly do live in a place with some recent history attached to it. Where I am all we have is Showaddywaddy & Gary Lineker.
WHO?![]()
I'm still in. I know ALL the stuff Al talked about, as well as Showaddywaddy AND Gary Lineker.
Anybody top that, huh

Linda Lovelace used to live just a few blocks from me and served beer in a local bar.
Frankly, I find that hard to swallow...

In the early 1980's I had the pleasure of visiting a friend of my father who had every issue of Playboy from the first issue, 26 or 27 years worth at that time.

Yep, I have an RF.
I do love a good beer (and wine, tea, whisky, tequila and sake).
I'm not old enough to have "known" Bettie Page as in having been around for the peak of her career but certainly know of her and her work.
I didn't have to google Bauhaus. I am into vocabulary and lesser-known phrases and references and this one was very familiar to me.
Funny thread! My induction into Lovelace's "ilk" was viewing some select choices from a friend's dad's stash when I was about 11. It was a little eye-opening to say the least.
