The "Sexy" Leica - 2000 LHSA TTL .85 Black Paint

Tom, I was also lucky to pick up a never-used 0.85 LHSA today. When I put the battery in, the meter was off by a fairly wide margin. After about an hour of playing around with it, it's now off by about a stop or two. Did you have a similar issue with yours at first? Guess this is a question for M6 generally -- after an extended period of non-use (10 years in my case), have people found that the meter needs time to "warm up"? Many thanks. Don

Congrats Don!

Well, I have only had one roll of film through my camera so far, I have the second roll done, the camera is empty now, I'm debating weither or not I'll use the camera for shooting afterall?

Could be the meter just needed to be "juiced up" and hopefully now works dead on the money for you, if not, I'm sure it would be a small adjustment that DAG could do without it costing too much.
Leica New Jersey should know what exact date yours was made/delivered, I called and asked, while the warranty ran out last year, they have a ten year limit I think.........

I know you will just love it, get a factory case for it, make sure it's the newer MP style case, while the standard M6 cases are too small (not tall enough) and won't work/fit right with a TTL camera.

Happy Shooting!

Tom

After looking at this camera all day, seeing how great it is, I changed my mind, so I'm keeping it FOR THE TIME BEING, I couldn't find anyone deserving enough to earn the rights to a new ownership anyway, I guess my M3 Black Paint project will just take a backseat for now?

Why so bitter? You've been irked all week because no one wanted to spend $3000+ on your beautiful, but expensive and collectible, M6. I don't get it.

I'm not bitter just surprised, the 0.85 camera currently sells overseas for $3,000 to $3,400 and a well known American Dealer told me that he'd value it at $3,150 here in the states now, so my price was fair, I even dropped it slightly under $3k but it didn't work for anyone here.

The Leica dealer told me I have to find a professional collector to sell to and he said the place to sell is in HK now. ?

And you have to understand, I'm just a little impatient to get my M3/6 Project started.

I've been unable to do things due to my poor health, (I've been out of work and away from professional shooting now over 2 years) But, I've been feeling better and I'm starting to get back into working again, I miss Photography so much.

The Black Paint M3/6 Hybrid/FrankenLeica is on my wants list, but I have to sell the LHSA first before I can get started on the "dream camera" for shooting film with, so I just have to be patient , I'll get the $$$$ I want for the camera when the RIGHT seller comes along. :)

Tom,
"nobody deserving your camera"?
Looks more like "nobody wants it".

I also find your relationship with it to be weird. I mean it's just a camera and it's only money.

You all may want to kick me, but I purchase my LHSA M6 new back in 2000, a .85 version. After about 6 months I decided I didn't like the viewfinder, so I sent it off to Sherry Krauter for a CLA, and to have the .85 replaced with the .72 finder (she also took out the 75 and 135 masks). I used it alot (along with the BP Leicavit) it got pretty beat up - and eventually sold it to someone overseas (bought a BP M4 which I still have). I am suprised at how much they go for now. Who knew?

LHSA Special Edition 0.85 with the matching Rapidwinder engraved. It is my 50 and longer lens camera, the 35 frame is a bit "squinty". Looking at the iso dial, it looks like the last roll shot was either Orwo MA-8 or Technical Pan - 12 iso!
I made about 10 of these winders with the special edition engraving when the LHSA camera came out. Kept one - the others are long gone. This is also a user camera - not a shelf queen.
