I sold my 90/2.8 years ago after getting the newer and smaller Pentax 67 90/2.8, but for a long time the 90/2.8 LS was my main lens for my 67. I kinda wish I still had it.

If I hadn't just sprung for a Focomat Ic and all the sundry supplies necessary to start printing, I'd have nabbed the SPII and M42 lenses, Steve -- been lusting for the 8-element 50/1.4 for a long while now.

Oh would that it were so! Normally it would be, but not this year. Vet bills munched through all our discretionary funds this fall -- turns out that having one of our dogs go stay at Cornell's veterinary ICU for a week is incredibly expensive. The Focomat was already pushing it and only worked because I billed it as an early birthday present.

Kevin, Buy the Spotmatic kit, keep the lens, and sell the camera... you can then tell Paula that you got the lens for less than it would cost on evilbay... (and from a reputable seller).
Edit: Paula can sigh with relief... the Spotmatic kit is sold. But the MX combo with the Ultron is still available...

there are pentax deals to be found on evilbay. i just bought a near mint Spotmatic SP with 50/1.4 Super Takumar & 35/3.5 Super Takumar for $95!!

This is my favorite thread at this time. Thanks to all who have contributed to it.
I have a 50mm 1.4 Super Multi-Coated Takumar under a light, right now, to see if I can clear up the yellow. I also have a Spotmatic II (needs service), a Spotmatic F, an H1a, and several other lenses.
I normally shoot manual-focus Minoltas for 35mm, but I'm feeling the urge load up a Pentax.

Two thoughts:
1. *I* can sigh with relief too! I'm sure the buyer will be very happy -- hopefully we get to see some pics from that 8-element in this thread soon!
2. I'm not so sure about the "reputable" part -- definitely the seller has a "reputation", but what kind of reputation, that's the real question!

Agree. I know I have my thoughts on said reputation...
I can’t say enough good things about my 105mm Pentax 67. I can’t think of a lens that delivers more for so little money. Just Super.

The Auto Takumars definitely have something - Apart from looking good as pieces of equipment it is the rendering. I think it may be that the longer Takumars tend to be Sonnar designs and hence have that lovely rendering that this optical design is renowned for. I think I prefer them to the later versions of the lenses. However in relation to both the 105mm and the 135mm Takumar lenses I tend to have these in several versions where these were made - auto Takumar, early 46mm filter preset, later 49mm preset, Super Multi Coated Takumar (auto diaphragm) and SMC Takumar. Does that make me obsessed? Or just obsessive?

I think that it makes you someone that appreciates nice things. Sometimes that is enough. I love the compactness of the old Auto-Takumars, and there is no denying the quality of images that they make.
