The Takumar Lenses

Here are a couple with the Super-Takumar 35mm f/3.5. I made the hibiscus photo early in the morning soon after the sun had come up. The scenic shot was made later in the morning at f/11 with infinity set at f/11 on the depth of field scale.

Very nice! There's one of these lenses for sale in Classifieds if anyone is interested....

You're welcome, kuuan. And thank you for posting these wonderful pictures. Your photographs always have a special meaning to me, as most of the places you picture are very close to my heart.

Cheers!

Abbazz

dear Abbazz, this is the most heart warming and encouraging comment my photos have received ever, so happy to know that!

which however also does remind me of a question that I have been asking myself: what meaning do photos, that are rather documentary, have for people who do NOT know the places? Without understanding the context, references of the local culture that may give meaning, how much will the photos be understood, and how much judged along preconceptions, projections asf. and rather "misunderstood"?

@Mike Novak (aka Greyscale),

How does your 135mm f/2.5 compare to the three 135mm f/3.5 lenses?

I have not really put the 2.5 or the Super-Tak 3.5 through the paces yet, maybe when we are out of the deep freeze I will take them out to play in the sunshine. I absolutely love the other two. Truthfully, I am finding it hard to get the 85/1.8 Takumar off of my camera right now, because it is fantastic.

Thanks, Bingley. There are at least two for sale in Pentaxforums Marketplace as well. I think they're generally not as commonly available as the 28s, 50s, and 55s because Pentax users buy them for use as a normal lens on Pentax APSC DSLRs.

Tapeimetro thank you. I hope and I take it you mean "only" in the sense of "exclusively" ;) Get your Cosmicar!

These all are from +/- 10 years ago. I was using pretty much exclusively Takumars on Pentax dSLR then, in one or the other forum was called Takumar and/ or Pentax fanboy.
I had wanted to use old manual lenses, the S-M-C Takumar f1.4/50 got me hooked on Takumars. For a dSLR, for being small, well handling, powerful but cheap Pentax, at least to me, was the obvious choice.
Once the smaller mirrorless cameras came up I switched and to mostly using smaller lenses they allow for. First Pen-F halfframe lenses, later RF, mostly Cosina Voigtlaender for wide angles and Canon LTM for others.
Regarding optical performance, rather than an objective gain it brought interesting variety, regarding handling, besides the advantage of being smaller that I wanted and appreciate, I rather lost.
Takumars are very good lenses.

hey you
