How to use lens "defects" fun and profit. Many lenses that don't do so well wide open produce flattering portraits and great bokah. A Russian copy of the Leitz Summar (FED 50mm/f2) also produce soft effects with surreal bokah. Old fast primes seem worth exploring. While the soft focus effect can be done to death your models wont hate you for exposing every pore and zit!
