I'm sure this has been asked before... but can't find anything so far.

I am considering selling the IIF + Summar and getting an M of some kind. I don't need metering, just a solid functional body for sticking a 50mm or 35mm on and using.

What is the best deal out there for the Ms now? M4 canadian version?

It has to be an M2 ... there's been some great examples go through the classifieds at bargain prices IMO. I don't use mine a lot unfortunately as the dark side (SLR) seems to have a grip on me at the moment but with a 35mm lens on it it's hard to imagine anything better!

There's a fine user M2 for 600 in the RFF classifieds right now; that will work with a 35 or 50 lens very well. Also there is KEH which, I am given to understand, is close to where you live.

Hmm, M2.. I will look into it as well. 🙂

KEH used to be close to me, but I live on Hilton Head island now -- suppose it's time to update my profile!

I now have an M2 with which I get on well -- but I still sometimes miss the M3 I used for 17 years until 2002, with a SBLOO finder permanently mounted for 35mm.

Who cares about an M... Now, let's get serious - how much for the real camera - that II & Summar? 😀 :bang:

(sigh; back to the real world, not like I could afford it, but why give up the II for an M? Make sure you know why you're doing something & if it wil really help, perhaps a IIIC might be a better buy if you really need slow speeds?)

the M4 canadian is pricez, you must be speaking of the M4-2 which have a relatively bad reputation thus the price. It is solid camera as most have been serviced over time. the M4-p is a good camera can be found not that expensive. A M2 is your best bet as it is older cameras, the same goes for M3 but not the more rare regular M4.

If you're interested PM me and we can talk. 🙂

I do love the IIf but I don't like prefocusing and the two separate windows are are a real killer sometimes when you want the shot right then. So I am considering a RF with combined VF/RF instead. I love the Leica build so considering a user M.

Ah yes, that must've been what I meant -- I remember one was considered 'undesirable' and a bit cheaper. 🙂

The choice of body depends on your taste in FOV lenses! If you like 28mm, get the M4P/M4-2/M6 and newer etc... same for the 75mm lenses.
If you can live with 35mm, M2/M4 will do.
And ultimately if you are a hardcore 50mm guy you can settle for the mythical M3!

Well, I scored a user M4-2 for $400 so that'll have to do for now. 🙂

Now I gotta decide whether to keep the Summar and use on it or not... I probably will since I love that lens.

Guess the IIf will go for sale once I get it and verify all's as advertised.
