Thinner

Today is my last passover vacation day and I am still working on my four Kievs. I hate to have to open them again but it goes with the Kiev land. Therefore, to rest from time to time I will be posting some "technical" notes about what according to my twisted judgement it may be useful for others. Beware, I love walking on the edges and trying crazy and harmful things that my ignorance allows.

Thinner. What about it ? besides being useful for diluting paint there is another extremely good use I discovered this week. It is the ultimative polishing-cleaner solution. NEVER USE IT FOR PARTS INCLUDING PAINTED MARKS, LOGOS, OR NUMBERS. Thinner is an extremely corroding solution.

However, what about those cromed top casting knobs full of old dirt within the tooth and unpossible to clean? Extraordinary ! just submerge the specific part inside of a film plastic container half full of thinner, for some five minutes, shake it sometimes, and you will pull the part out, factory shinning as the day it was born.

Cheers,
Ruben

Tried an ultrasound cleaner ? You can pick one on eBay for £20ish and it's fantastic for these too, or to clean almost anything.
I use hot water and some organic enzime (bought on microtools) for the really dirty pieces
