If it works, why not keep it? I think it's pretty cool. Would be cooler covered in fur, though.
Man, I hope I didn't offend anyone with my suggestion of using real fur. Fake fur would work just fine too.
Yeah, I think it's a keeper - I mean, for the money it's worth it.
Besides, it's a nice companion to THIS one!

I'm tempted to suggets that there is a real Leica in there somewhere...but...it would have been black with engraving filled with Woods metal and the engraving on the top of this camera looks too deep. On that basis the whole thing has been worked over big time...
I can't think of a way of distressing high gloss chrome to give it a period feel so what would I do? Use it, that is a very hardwearing finish!

I guess my question about this whole thing is WHY? Why would someone do this to this camera? Could that scenario that I conjured up seem plausible?
I did consider stripping it, repainting and re-nickel plating, but boy that would be a bit of an investment. And what you'd be left with is still a camera without its original finish - not to mention more money in it than you could possibly get out of it. Unless I could find a parts camera from the same era for $ 50.00!
I'll try to run a roll of film in it this week....

Sadly, I never found a nice 'Luxus' at the camera shows I visit. I guess the Russkies think it's not worth it anymore to drive all the way to the Netherlands
My 2cents: For the amount you paid, I'd never part with it. It's a bit of a FrankenLeica, but it seems to be real. I'd like the fur too, but I'd suggest 'furry dice polka dot pattern'.

How about spraying it a nice, vivid pink with black here and there to relieve the yukkiness?
Just a thought...

Well, I actually know a place in town that does powder coating, so they could probably do the top and bottom plates fairly inexpensively
(as in $ 20.00). So maybe something with a bit of glitter in it?
Okay, I now have a 12 exposure roll of colour film in this sucker, so we'll try it out with the Megoflex and see what happens. Stand back.....
BTW, I never did find out what the story with the gold camera is. That is a real Leica as well (it's been thoroughly checked out), but who did the 24k gilding etc.....?

Lordy, whenever I see one of those, I reach for the white balance slider.
I think your non-copy copy is cool, by the way! You oughta re-leather it with something unexpected.

I think I found the perfect companion to my chrome camera, and Sandy Ritz has it.
Maybe this could be the start of something.....?

Fake fur, real fur ... I say go ahead. Here in Louisiana we aren't bothered by such things. Where do you think Vulcanite comes from? That's right. Vulcans.

How many is enough?
You could have someone just sand or bead-blast it (after disassembly, of course) and then paint it yourself with a black (or some other color) bake-on enamel?

Or I could just chrome all the rest of the nickel parts!
No kids, I think this baby is gonna stay as-is, particularly based upon everyone's enthusiasm in this thread -- which I seriously appreciate by the way. Yet, a nice low pile Holstein cow pattern might be interesting.....
And I've rather been giving that shiny chrome jobby that Sandy Ritz has some consideration. They would look good together, and maybe in fact this might be the start of some sort of aesthetic trend on RFF!

Okay - here's one shot from a 12 exposure roll of ISO 400 colour film. Surprisingly, the Megoflex collimated with the lens! Other shots aren't as interesting, so at least this is a start.

Is that shutter speed dial for slow speeds?

For slow speeds? Well it only goes down to 1/20th on the dial, so if you mean is the dial meant for a III or a IIIa etc, it might be. I know that the early cameras had a wider, flatter dial, and the cameras with the slow speeds had the smaller dial like this, but then the actual slow speeds (1 sec - 1/20) were on a separate dial on the front, if I'm following you correctly.

Now....just sit one of my PinUp`s on that bench drinking a Mint Juelip in a Flapper Dress with fingerwaved hair and we can all go back to 1932!!!!!

I love this camera!!!!! Nicest LUXUS repop I`ve seen in a long time.......
It would make the ultimate PROP for a 1920`s PinUp "Flapper Girl" shoot
Maybe a scantly clad Flapper in the back of a Dusenberg Towncar adjusting the lens to take a picture????

Well Tom, the Luxus is for sale (and its provenance is still in question!), and if you want to bring one of your models up here for a shoot, I just gotta clear it with my wife and you can come on up!

Excuse my resurrecting a dead thread, I was looking at Megoflexes after my GAS brought me across one on ebay, I googled them and came across this. What badass little contraptions they are, too, I want one!
Who said fur-skinned cameras? Not quite fur, it's welder's apron leather, but it looks close enough. Probably harder-wearing, too! It's Bellyface's on here, I found it when I was looking at reskins.
