Thoughts on Fuji xQ1 camera

Wow Paul, those are some great shots! Thank you for giving me something to aspire to.

I picked it up this morning and it looks new. I think it will be perfect for those times when I can't be bothered carrying a camera. I've got lots of iPhone shots that I'm happy with, and this will give technically better shots in a camera format with camera controls.

Pics coming soon.

Jpeg1 from this camera is good for family vacation albums, yes. Printed at Walmart at small size which is next after wallet size, I guess.
And if you find pictures as above acceptable it is fine as well.
Camera itself is very nice and fast to focus.

Yes, I know, it was about pictures from xq1 provided above. You'll get better ones for sure, just not as good as from two you have already.
Size of the sensor is really matter.

Kuvvy's photo's show it's the camera in the hand's more than the camera itself. These photo's are very acceptable in my eye. Especially if all you wish is to post photo's on the internet.

I bought the XQ2, which is a minor update, a few weeks ago to serve as a back pocket camera (as opposed to a Back Alley camera 🙂). With a 2/3 inch sensor and 12 mp, I figure the photosite density on the XQ2 sensor is actually less than on a 1 inch 20 mp sensor.

Here is a recent example - OOC BW jpg with yellow filter:

(apologies for the link rather than an embedded image - somewhere between Smugmug and RFF my embedded images end up very soft)

With images of 3000 x 4000 pixels, you can produce a very nice 11x14 print using an Epson (360 dpi) printer. Of course you should aim to keep the ISO at 400 or lower, 800 in a pinch.

Great camera to have in your back pocket.

Cheers,
Kirk

Looks like a great family.

While I love the always with me of my iPhone 5, the feel is not that of a camera. She looks like an excellent pocket camera. My guess is that the menu layout and controls are pretty similar to it's larger siblings.

Please share how she handles and some of your results.
