Thoughts on Fuji xQ1 camera

Looks like a great family.

While I love the always with me of my iPhone 5, the feel is not that of a camera. She looks like an excellent pocket camera. My guess is that the menu layout and controls are pretty similar to it's larger siblings.

Please share how she handles and some of your results.

Yes Bill, the menus and function buttons are very similar. This is important to me because I'm such a digital noobie.

I can tell that it is a great pocket camera. My jean jacket inner pocket is quite buldgy and uncomfortable with my xm1 but the xq1 just disappears. It's the front to back depth that is relevent.

I will certainly share results.

Learning! 🙂

Each of these Fuji digitals has a destinct role. The xq1 is the camera I will have in my pocket in situations where I wouldn't carry a camera before, and it will be better than my iPhone. It will not take the place of the larger sensor cameras.

... It's the front to back depth that is relevent.....

Sadly Ricoh forgot about that when they designed the GR II.

Great to hear about the menus/controls. I have your same desire/requirement to have your cameras work the same. I switched from Leica M to Nikon S because of exactly that reason. I wanted the lenses and aperture to turn the same direction.

The XQ1 is just a P+S digital cam, but it's a decent one with extensive control options and a familiar menu. Some samples from today from The Guild (car restoration) in Bradford.

Frank - those are very nice. On the web or as smallish prints they are more than acceptable. There is real value in having a very portable camera that one would use when you wouldn't be inclined to use a smartphone. It's a win.
