I have just returned home after spending three days in a monastery with two monks. Here is a first draft. What do you think? The plan is returning there over time and trying to find something deeper to tell.

Excellent shot and great project!

Have you seen the documentary film Into Great Silence? "The idea for the film was proposed to the monks in 1984, but the Carthusians said they wanted time to think about it. They responded to Gröning 16 years later to say they were willing to permit him to shoot the movie"

Thank you!
I have not seen it. I will look it up! :)

Well you have certainly captured the austerity well. No one can be in any doubt that the monks do not lead the life of the rich and famous.

I get a strong feeling from the images you've chosen.
A deeply joyless place.
Even the few leaves of the plant in the first image look imprisoned.
Thought provoking ...no doubt.

Very nice images, and cool project. I would only respectfully suggest that they deserve more space between them in the way they are posted here.

Beautiful images, reminiscent of a similar experience by the American writer William Least Heat-Moon in his book "Blue Highways", after his visit to a monastery in the U.S.
