Whoops! So much for gender balance.

Right, it's a male hobby/occupation - except that Helen Hill is female, I presume, and her vote is worth 20x the vote of the average male photog (like me) is worth. So perhaps there is a balance after all. I am interested in the people who voted the 3rd category - but I suppose I shouldn't ask.

In all seriousness, I do hope/wish there was a stong presence of women RF users here at RFF.

The few women rangefinder photographers (they use Leica, yes) I know are amazing -- photographically and beyond.

However, I must say I know many more male than female rangefinder photographers. Why would that be?

I need a category for Alien Resident. (NB: Not the same as resident alien.)

Seriously, if a gender poll helps renew the friendly creative conversation about inclusion, interests, standards, styles, whatever! in RFF as it concerns preferences and desires and differences in experience of women (and men, and other) image-makers with some stake in rangefinder photography, I say Great, Okay, Why Not, Yes Indeedy.

Especially if the alternative is the tekkie buzzing of gear drones, or the one-upMANship of guys with testosterone-induced Last Word Syndrome. 😉

this poll does not reflect the gender balance in photography as a whole, but on this site. Seeing photographers at my local shops in LA I would say it is about 50/50 in both film and digital depts.
Young people and women frequent sites like instagram and flickr grps. Let’s be honest, the name rangefinderforum suggests something that dusty old farts would be attracted to. Perhaps it is time for a rebranding?

I don't think any changes are needed. When I stumbled upon this site I figured I would be in the minority. I agree it's more balanced in real life than on line.

My best photographers who worked with me were ladies.

We had a lot of fun but worked hard at the jobs.

After each event we would get together and figure out how we could do better at the next gig.

Smiles.
